The Courage Not to Chase Numbers... What I Value Instead of Posting on Interactive Social Media [Part 2] | Handmade | Temari Setsugekka * Small Temari Accessories

Hello. This is Temari Setsugekka.

I create small temari, turn them into accessories, and sell them on two handmade websites.

In this note, I would like to continue talking about what I value as I continue my activities.

You can find the first part here.

Comparing 'Styles' of Information Dissemination

Shortly after I started my activities, I also struggled with whether I should be using interactive social media.

However, I was able to clearly decide against it because I thought my 'tendency to get obsessed,' which I touch upon in other articles from time to time, might cause trouble.

I could only foresee a future where I would be glued to my smartphone screen all day, only to be swayed by numbers like 'number of likes' and 'fluctuations in followers...'

What is important to me is the 'time and energy to make temari.' Time, physical strength, and mental energy are all finite. I want to pour as much as possible into creation!

Many interactive social media platforms are what are called 'flow-based,' where posts stream by one after another on a timeline.

While they can deliver information to many people in a short period, the lifespan of a post is short, so if you don't keep posting new content, you won't catch anyone's eye.

On the other hand, 'Pinterest' and this 'note,' which I chose as my means of disseminating information, share the greatest appeal of being 'stock-based.'

Although you cannot expect results in the short term, the content you post today has the potential to reach someone who needs it even after months or years have passed.

The fact that everything I post accumulates on the internet as my own 'assets' is a great source of fulfillment for me.

Of course, I have heartfelt respect for artists who make wonderful posts every day and enjoy interacting with their fans.

But there isn't just one correct way to conduct your activities... I hope! I also want those who are tired of numbers to know that 'this way of doing things is also okay.'

Is there 'something non-mainstream' that you want people to know about?

If you are interested, I would be very happy if you could take a look at my shop.
