[Monthly Report] May 2026: Work and Recent Updates | Opening up the potential of a space, opening up one's own complexity

In Tokyo, there have already been days exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, feeling just like early summer.
How is everyone doing?

◇◇◇

The photo shows my day as a guest manager at the shared bookshelf I've been renting since last month.
When I announced it on social media beforehand, several groups came by saying, "We came to visit!" which made me feel happy and grateful.

Fun things are happening, such as graphic designer friends who were meeting for the first time getting to know each other, and guests asking about my visual interview service, "Kashi-Cafe (Visualization Cafe)".

◾️ This Month's Work

Main Work: Graphic Recording / Visual Feedback

I work on advancing and deepening discussions and dialogues by drawing content in real-time during meetings and workshops.
I am mainly focusing on graphic recording and visual feedback, where I use what I've drawn to facilitate reflection and questioning.

My main work this month looked something like this.

[Live Drawing] Drawing dreams and fostering public anticipation
At an "Open Park" event held at a future park development site, I drew on the spot while listening to passersby talk about "what they want to do in the park."

The act of drawing attracted people and sparked interest, which reportedly led to more visitors at the neighboring booth and more survey responses than expected.

This is what it looked like on the day.
I heard stories from a wide range of people, from those with children to the elderly, people with dogs, and those who knew what the site looked like in the past.

I also worked in these types of settings.

[Vision Building] Depicting ideal relationships with diverse stakeholders
At a manufacturing workshop, I used graphic recording to structure the ideal relationship with customers and the connections with various departments needed to achieve it on the spot.
By visualizing complex-looking relationships on a single sheet, causal relationships and priorities became clear. It became a foundation for shared understanding that people could point to.

[Career Development / Internal PR] Creating hooks of interest to promote archive viewing
At an internal streaming event for a construction company, I drew the introduction of departmental work and the dialogue about employee careers in real-time and projected it during the stream.

From supporting understanding on the spot to creating a path to archive viewing after the stream.
I supported the continuation of the event's impact by using graphics to spark a desire to "know more."

My work this month spanned multiple areas, but my common underlying desire is"Since the space has been created, I want it to be worth the effort to the maximum extent."that is.

Every job is an important space for the future, prepared with time and cost, and the enthusiasm and careful work of the people in charge are wonderful.

Since it's a special occasion,I want to get as close as possible to the maximum "I'm glad I did it!".
Thinking this way, while coordinating with the facilitators, I didn't just draw; I also smiled and talked to passersby, asked necessary questions, and provided visual feedback on the overall composition of the discussion, entering as arole that opens up the potential of the space.

◾️ What I shared this month

note

This month, I wrote two articles about graphic recording and visual facilitation.

One is a reflection on the major failure I experienced in 2016 when I entered my first-ever graphic recording site, and I talk about what not to draw, which is also one of the keys to 'why I am able to draw in real-time'.

This is a discussion where I thought about trends, having drawn various types of portraits in visualization settings, based on the Open Park example mentioned earlier.

I also wrote a parenting essay.
My child has turned four, and is now able to communicate in more complex ways than before, and has been telling me more about what they are thinking.

Sometimes I am taken by surprise, and other times I am soothed with a smile.
It is a fun daily life.

Podcast

'Sekiko Radio' is distributed every Thursday.

4-3 | Meetings, also for the sake of not drawing.

This is the chat that became the basis for the note mentioned earlier, 'Meetings for the sake of 'not drawing''.
It might be interesting to compare it with the content of the note.
(It's interesting to have the context of why that conversation happened, isn't it?)

5-1 | Why did you choose a job that involves drawing?

I am being interviewed about my career so far by writer and listener Oshima-san.
Since this is a question I am often asked by clients, I am happy to be able to share it in my own voice.
It should be content that 'if you listen to this for now, you will roughly understand my career so far.' (I want to summarize it in a note someday)

[New Program] Manazashi Kousaten (Gaze Intersection)

I started a casual chat podcast with my friend Emo-chan, who is involved in community building.
Although I tend to use polite language when talking to acquaintances, she is one of the few friends I made after becoming an adult with whom I can talk freely in casual language.

Just like Side A for Sekiko Radio and Side B for this, I am attempting to use the help of each conversation partner to express the multifaceted appearance of my complex self.
(In other words, since 'Sekiko Radio' is a bit of a formal, 'dressed-up' version of me, this is a challenge to show more of my relaxed side to find a balance.)

The shared bookshelf I mentioned at the beginning is also an attempt to open up a new side of myself as a local resident in the neighborhood.

It seems that for me, the phase of 'creating a narrowed-down, easy-to-understand, concise self' has settled down, and it has changed to a phase of 'enjoying opening up my complex and rough self'.

◼︎ Inquiries here

This month was a happy month with comfortable weather.
I wish we had this kind of season for half the year!

If you are someone who thinks, 'Maybe I should consult with her,' while I am in such a comfortable and good mood, please feel free to contact me.

I accept business trips all over the country, mainly from Tokyo.
I specialize in graphic recording and visual feedback, which uses what I have drawn to reflect and ask questions.

I am particularly interested in visualization support in the tourism and regional development sectors, which I am familiar with from my career to date, as well as in the field of business succession, which I want to take on as a new challenge, and in collaborating with facilitators and consultants.

I'm still in the planning stage, but I'd like to know what's possible. Consultations during the planning or proposal phase are also very welcome!
If you think, "This might be useful in a setting like this," please feel free to reach out at that stage.

I excel at thinking things through together from the planning stage.
I will propose the optimal way to utilize my services, tailored to the purpose and vision of your project💪

Please feel free to contact me via the form below to get started.

Thank you for all your hard work this month!
