[2026] Guelaguetza | Even if official tickets are sold out, you can still make it! Guelaguetza information for San Antonino village
Hello, I am a monkey living in Oaxaca.
Official Guelaguetza tickets for 2026 are already sold out.
But don't worry.
In Oaxaca, besides the official venue, unique Guelaguetzas are held in the surrounding villages.
This time, I will summarize the 2026 Guelaguetza information for the village of San Antonino Castillo Velasco.
As I wrote in my previous article, all tickets for this year's official Guelaguetza venue are already sold out.
However, you can still watch the official Guelaguetza by lining up on the day for free seats in Section C (3rd floor) and Section D (4th floor).

Locals also line up from 5:00 AM for the 10:00 AM show, and from past 12:00 PM for the 5:00 PM show, so if you want to watch from the free seats, be prepared for a long wait.
And, not only in the city, but Guelaguetza is held every year in the villages around Oaxaca as well.
I was invited to the press conference yesterday and went there.
I will share the 2026 Guelaguetza information for the village of San Antonino Castillo Velasco that was announced there.

Guelaguetza 2026
San Antonino Castillo Velasco
San Antonino is about 50 minutes by car from Oaxaca City.
It is a village famous for its beautiful embroidery.
Held on Monday, July 20, and Monday, July 27, 2026.
On the day, the village's Rotonda de las Azucenas will be the venue.
*You can get there by moto-taxi from the village entrance.
There are no advance tickets for this year's San Antonino Guelaguetza.
Tickets will be sold at the venue entrance starting at 10:00 AM.
Floor seats around the stage: 130 pesos
Bleacher seats: 50 pesos
All seats are paid.
Admission to the venue is from 2:00 PM.
The Guelaguetza starts at 4:00 PM.
Also, from July 18th to 28th, there will be an embroidery market and a village food fair in the central square of the village, so please enjoy those as well.

The charm of the village Guelaguetza!
First of all, there are fewer people than in the city. It's the best.
Especially for those who want to take pictures, it is a very attractive location because people, traffic lights, and signs won't get in the background.
The atmosphere held in the traditional natural setting also makes for great photos.
The participating groups are the representative dance troupes (Delegaciones) of each village.
Groups that also dance at the official Guelaguetza venue will participate.
Their skill is guaranteed!
It is a 100% original village Guelaguetza.
By the way, I took these photos last year.

If you are filming from the side of the stage at the San Antonino Guelaguetza,
you will need a press photography permit.
If you need a press permit, we can arrange it for a fee, so
please feel free to consult with us via DM.
When it comes to Oaxaca festivals, I personally recommend the "Guelaguetza" over the "Day of the Dead."
After all, the "Day of the Dead" is celebrated all over Mexico.
Traditional costumes, music, dance, folk crafts, and food culture.
The colorful streets are dressed up for tourists.
This is because it is a month packed with the charm of Oaxaca.
Including the Mezcal Fair and the Folk Crafts Fair,
the period from July 17th to July 28th is the most exciting, so I recommend visiting during this time.
Small parades and such are held in the city on weekends
starting from July 1st, so please rest assured.
I plan to continue writing about the Guelaguetza information for each village, so
If you are interested, please!
Follow "Saru. Oaxaca no Hito" and wait for more information.
As an aside,
I had been writing it as "Guelaguetza" following the local pronunciation.
I recently realized that the standard notation on the internet and Wikipedia is "Guelaguetz-a" (with a small 'a'). Lol
Japanese katakana notation is really difficult!
When I hear it locally, it sounds like "Guelaguetza."
