What I see is not the title, but the 'essence of the person'
Hello, I am Saru, living in Oaxaca.
Today is an article that is a bit like a 'declaration'.
I am the type of person who writes two or three note articles at a time in drafts.
Every time I do, I use AI as a partner like an editor.
Then, one day, the AI said something like this.
'Saru-san, even though you seem to be writing about different themes, you always land in the same place in the end.'
Huh? What is that?
Actually, I had an idea about this AI's statement.
Before, a mutual follower, Meno-san, wrote an article called
'The result of being observed by ChatGPT for a year',
and I had just thought, 'Yeah, yeah, AI does that kind of thing, haha.'
It seems that when you continue to use AI as a partner, you can sometimes see the person's 'usual habits' from past conversations and articles.
Actually, my Chappy also pulls out past articles and starts saying similar things.
Or rather, it says it periodically when I've forgotten about it. Haha
'From your articles so far, aren't you attracted to the moments when a person's essence is conveyed not just through words, but through their actions?'
Reading that sentence, I thought, 'Oh, maybe so! You're watching closely, aren't you!'
When you think about it that way, all the articles so far connect, the AI said.
Chasing after artisans.
Capturing the expressions of dancers.
Writing about village culture at Guelaguetza.
Talking about the photos themselves rather than the equipment.
Talking about the writer rather than the AI.
The articles I have written seem to have different themes on the surface, such as folk crafts, dancing, photography, and note articles.
The AI article I wrote recently was, in the end, about the same thing. No matter how beautiful the writing is, I am not drawn to text where the person who wrote it is invisible.
What did that person feel, and what did they want to convey?
It seems that is what I want to read.
I see... that is why I visit artisans' workshops again and again.
That is why I take photos from morning till night when there is a festival.
That is why I am curious about the 'individuality' of people who write.
What I am looking at is not a fancy title, but what that person values and what they have built up over time.
I have strong partialities, so I do it again and again. Haha
And, I have always been drawn to people whose words and actions are consistent.
This is for real.
Also, I don't really care for people who push themselves on me, saying 'I'm this kind of person!' Haha
Of course, I think I will continue to write about Oaxaca.
But the themes I write about always end up in the same place.
The people living in Oaxaca. There are many people in Oaxaca who are inheriting traditions and trying to connect them to the future.
Every time I see them, I get energy from them too. I want to keep following the lives of such people.
Writing about the figure of a person facing what they hold dear.
That is what I, having watched people in Oaxaca for 20 years, want to continue writing about.
……That said.
I am not the type to write such beautiful things in a beautifully noble way. (Hey)
I am a person who observes, reacts, makes quips, and writes.
I think I will continue to go off on tangents, make mistakes, laugh, and make quips while writing in full 'Saru-style'.
By the way, this 'Saru-style'.
I had an AI analyze my blog from 20 years ago.
Am I bored? Haha
It seems my habit of stringing together short sentences has been there since long ago.
Nowadays, since many people read on smartphones, people say 'short sentences are easier to read'.
I have been doing it for 20 years. I thought, 'Wow, I was ahead of my time!' but that's probably not it. Haha
When I reread my old blog,
"The bus isn't coming!!!"
is what I wrote. Lol
I'm just reacting to what's happening right in front of me,
"Why??? (angry)"
and that's all.
Perhaps my current "Saru-style" hasn't changed much from that. I express what I feel about what's in front of me and what I experience through intuition. There's no deep meaning to it; it's truly just a live report. Lol
But over 20 years, I've become able to turn "The bus isn't coming!!!" into slightly longer sentences. Maybe the reason it works on note is because I dig deeper into why I felt what I felt. Lol
From here on out, the foundation of my themes won't change. I want to deliver not just information, but also the image of the person behind it.
That is who I am, "Saru. The person from Oaxaca," who has started to see myself a little more clearly.I look forward to your continued support.

▼ A series where I put the "knots" I've had inside me into words, and was able to articulate my confusion.
Before I knew it, this article had become a three-part series.
If you'd like, please take a look at these as well.
