Second Half of 2025: 'If You Don't Know, Look at the Brighter Side'
I feel that 2025 is a very mysterious and wonderful year for me.
Today, I would like to talk about a new way of thinking I learned from two people.
Hiroomi Sueyoshi's Talk Live
Yesterday, I attended Hiroomi Sueyoshi's book launch talk live event, "The Courage to Turn Your Content into Money." I received many valuable words from Mr. Sueyoshi there, but one in particular left a deep impression on me.
"If you don't know, look at the brighter side."
When I heard these words, it felt like moving a muscle I had never used before—a truly fresh sensation.
A Mysterious Coincidence with History
And then, I thought, "Someone else said something similar." When I recalled it, it was the same line spoken by Juzaburo Tsutaya in the current NHK Taiga drama, "Berabo."
↓ I wrote about this in an article in April.
A Message Connecting the Edo Period to the Present
Juzaburo Tsutaya was known as the "Media King of Edo." On the other hand, Mr. Sueyoshi is someone who is creating a movement in the modern world with the "courage to share." Even though the eras are different, both are active in the field of information dissemination, which makes it all the more surprising that they are conveying the same message.
A Geographical Coincidence
What surprised me even more was the geographical coincidence. Yoshiwara was located in Nihonbashi Ningyocho, and I heard Mr. Sueyoshi's words yesterday in Ochanomizu. The distance between them is apparently only about 3 kilometers.
Is this a coincidence??
This geographical proximity, the same year of 2025, the same message.
I have a feeling that I am being told, "This is what you should do."
A New Way of Thinking for Me
That said, I am still not very good at the way of thinking, "If you don't know, look at the brighter side."
The world I walked through when I was young was one that said, "The world is a difficult place, so let's avoid anxiety."
I thought the only way to live was to avoid feeling anxious, to seek security, and to escape from anxiety.
That also appears in the way we use language. The ultimate example is
"Don't say anything unnecessary."
I think there are quite a few people who have lived their lives with these words in their hearts.
As a Theme for the Second Half of 2025
I have decided to make this way of thinking, "If you don't know, look at the brighter side," my theme for the second half of this year.
Of course, I might not be able to practice it immediately. However, as a language learner, I think I should first practice it like a grammatical structure. Even if it feels strange or doesn't feel genuine at first, I will continue to practice it by using it repeatedly as a structure until it eventually becomes a natural expression.
A New Approach to the Word "Exciting"
When thinking about the future in a positive light, a word often used in the world is "exciting."
To be honest, I was not very familiar with this feeling of being "excited." Of course, I had experienced the commercially manufactured "excitement" like when going to Disneyland or Universal Studios Japan. However, that was an excitement prepared by others, not one I had generated myself.
Aiming for Self-Generated Excitement
From now on, when I think about the future, I think I will actively use the word "exciting," even if it starts just as a structure. It is fine to start with the form. I intend to keep practicing so that it eventually wells up as a natural emotion.
An Approach as a Language Learner
As a language learner, I believe that new ways of thinking can be acquired just like a language.
When learning a new language, you start with grammar and syntax. Even if you don't fully understand the meaning at first, by memorizing the forms and practicing repeatedly, you eventually become able to use them naturally.
In the same way, I think we can practice the mindset of 'if you don't know, look at the bright side' consciously, just like syntax. And hopefully, in the future, it will become established as a natural, everyday thought pattern.
Summary: Cherish Small Changes
The mindset of 'if you don't know, look at the bright side,' which I learned from this special encounter in 2025, is a major theme for me this year as I gradually incorporate it into my life.
It's okay if I can't do it perfectly right away. Just like language learning, if I keep practicing little by little, it should eventually become a natural way of thinking.
And I would also like to be able to use the positive word 'exciting' as a natural expression when talking about my future.
I hope that this 'if you don't know, look at the bright side' will make my 2025 richer and brighter.
Thank you for reading this far.
Tomorrow, I will turn this into an English article.
(Can I do it? Well, if I don't know, I'll just look at the bright side (laughs))
Bonus
Just as Mr. Sueyoshi's message said, I am writing an article with my own unique worldview again today. It's truly spot on; rather than creating something, I am looking at the world and things from my own unique perspective. A unique worldview... I really think that was a wonderful phrase to receive.

Notice
I have been publishing English articles every Tuesday since March, but because I want to deliver them to people who read them with care, I will be gradually making them paid content starting from the oldest ones. They will be free for one month, and after that, they will become paid content.
Published on Kindle
This is an announcement. I have published on Kindle. I write about the joy of researching.
