Solving the 'I can't write' problem with templates: 4 steps to effective writing for beginners
'I want to share what I love.' Can you turn that desire into reality?
'I don't feel fulfilled in my current job.'
'I want to start something, but I lack confidence.'
'I want to share something in my own words.'
Many of the aspiring entrepreneurs
who come to me for advice struggle with these very issues.
A particularly common one is
'I have the desire to write, but I don't know how.'
This hurdle of writing is a major one.
But please, rest assured.
Writing is not about talent; you can learn to write using structure (templates).
In this post, I will introduce the
writing template that anyone can use to communicate effectively, which I also feature in my book.
Anyone can use it! A 4-step structure for effective writing
1. Introduction | 'I am going to write about XX'
Start by clearly stating what you are writing about.
Example:
'In this post, I will talk about tips for starting your social media presence.'
Having an introduction helps the reader understand the content immediately and prepares them to read.
2. Problem & Solution | 'Struggling with XX? Here is the solution'
Next, present a problem that anyone can relate to and provide the solution.
Example:
'Don't know what to post on social media? → Actually, you can start just by deciding on XX.'
The flow of problem to answer
elicits an 'Aha!' moment from the reader.
3. Self-Disclosure | 'I used to be like XX too'
Including your own real-life experiences adds credibility and warmth to your writing.
Example:
"At first, I also hesitated, wondering if it was okay for someone like me to share my thoughts..."
Showing your imperfect self
greatly narrows the distance between you and the reader.
4. Conclusion | "[Topic] is [Definition]."
Finally, summarize what you wanted to convey in a single sentence.
Example:
"Effective communication can be started by anyone as long as they grasp the structure."
A clean, concise ending leads to a sense of satisfaction after reading.
Once you can write, you will start to see your own voice.
By using these 4 steps,
the confusion of not knowing what to write will naturally disappear.
And as the feelings and thoughts you held inside are gradually put into words,
"This is what I really wanted to convey after all."
A moment of realization will arrive.
That is the first step toward the desire to contribute to society through what you love.
Conclusion: The power to write is the power to live as yourself.
Sharing your thoughts is for others, but it is also for yourself.
