[3 Themes of Imaginative Inspiration Vol. 32] The Wolf Guardian. Memories of the Full Moon. The Pen That Rewrites Destiny | Short Short
Title: The Wolf Guardian
On the night of a full moon, the world tells a little less lies than usual.
Deep in the forest, the moment a comet tore through the sky,
The Wolf Guardianremembered.
--Thememories of the full moonthat he should have forgotten.
Once, he possesseda pen that rewrites destiny.
If it touched paper, the future would tremble,
and if one character was erased, someone's life would diverge.
A convenient, cruel, and far too heavy object.
The guardian continued to struggle.
Should he save them, or let them go?
It was just like
Buridan's ass standing still before a pile of hay.
The choice of not choosing
quietly killed only time.
That night, the full moon asked him a question.
There were no words, just white and cold.
The wolves did not howl.
Because they already knew the guardian's hesitation.
The comet trailed its tail once more.
A one-time orbit that would never return.
The guardian broke the pen.
He did not rewrite destiny.
--No, he decided not to rewrite it.
In that moment, the world moved forward just a little.
No one knows if it was the right answer.
However, the wolves sat quietly,
and guarded his back until dawn.
The memories of the full moon no longer pose questions.
Because they know that only those who choose
can welcome the next morning.
