An Unforgettable Gift. ― The Dawn Glass Bead ―

The "Yoakedama" (Dawn Bead) I found on Komachi-dori in Kamakura.
The dragonfly bead necklace, which seemed to capture the morning light,
was the first gift he ever gave me when we had just started dating.

"This is beautiful, isn't it?"
I still remember that day when he handed it to me with a shy smile.
The translucent blue seemed to slowly melt away the night――
to me, it was truly a gift of "dawn" itself.

The light I almost lost.

One day, I carelessly left that Dawn Bead in my pocket,
and returned my serving uniform at the hotel where I was working a spot shift.
When I realized it while trying to show it to my husband, my heart went cold.

"What should I do? That is the one thing..."

When I frantically contacted the hotel,
miraculously, a cleaning staff member had found it.
The moment it returned to my palm, tears welled up.
My husband still says,
"I can't forget the look on Rin-chan's face at that moment."
He must have been even more panicked than I was.

Like the dawn, it illuminates the heart.

Even now, years later,
the Dawn Bead sits in my jewelry box,
quietly radiating light.

Time has passed,
and the chain has rusted a little,
but the blue brilliance is just as it was back then.

When I hold it up to the light, it still warms the depths of my heart.
It is not just a glass bead.
It is proof that I embraced the "feelings" I almost lost once more.
A memory of the first dawn we welcomed together.

The little bead that captured the blue of the dawn,
will continue to――
gently illuminate our time together forever.
