Because I Want to See Your Smile ①
I Messed Up at My Health Checkup!? The "Habit of Retorting"
Don't you get a little nervous every year during your health checkup, no matter what?
Height, weight, blood pressure... that "no escape" feeling as the numbers keep coming out one after another.
So, I was getting measured just like every other year.
As the height bar came down with a clunk, I prayed in my heart, "Oh, please don't let me have shrunk."
I'm such a timid person that I even worry about the thickness of my socks when I step on the scale.
And just like that, the measurements were over.
The nurse quickly wrote the numbers on a paper and showed them to me.
"Are you okay?"
...Yes, this is where the incident began.
A normal person would probably just end it with "Yes, I'm fine."
But you see, I have a troublesome habit.
A disease where I reflexively respond with a "joke" when asked something.
Me: "Well then, could you change this number to a '7'...?"
A moment of silence.
Nurse: "..."
People listening nearby: "Pfft 🤣"
[ Alright (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ Inner Scream (」^o^)」 ]
No, I know! I know!
If the number suddenly became a "7," it would actually be a medical mystery case.
But when asked, I say it as a conditioned reflex.
I'm basically a "retort vending machine" now. No change given.
And so I learned.
That in a health checkup, "silence is health"...
And so...
Yes, this is what happened today ꉂ🤣w𐤔
There were other things too, but...
Today...
I'll leave it at this ( ー̀ᾥ ー́ )y━・~~Puff~!
I'm not the only one whose mouth just moves on its own, right? 😅
Please tell me your "I do that too!" stories in the comments ✨
