My Mom is Crazy! (Part 9) The "Look Who's Talking" Incident When Discussing City Hall at the End of the Fiscal Year

As I wrote before, this is about the time I went to City Hall the other day to transfer my mother's certificate of residence.

When our turn finally came, we were guided to a counter where a female staff member with the air of a veteran was waiting.

At first, I had filled out the application with the intention of "combining our households," but
she subtly hinted at the potential troubles that could arise in the future,
making me realize, "I see, there are benefits to keeping our households separate even if we live at the same address."

Her service was neither too mechanical nor wasteful; it was truly impressive.

Then that night, my mother said quietly,
"It was so crowded, wasn't it? But well, I suppose we're done with it now."

"True. With that many people, it must be frustrating, but she was very helpful, wasn't she?"
When I replied like that, my mother thought for a moment and said,
"That person, wasn't she getting on in years?"

At that moment, I couldn't help but laugh.
"I think she's much younger than you, Mom."

…It was truly a "look who's talking" moment.
