I realized this while writing with AI. I cannot write just to "make money."
There are themes I can write about.
But I don't feel like writing them.
I wonder if this stance is just me being soft, considering I want to earn money through writing—.
Lately, that question has been circling in my head.
The format for a best-selling article. I certainly thought it was correct.
It happened when I was trying to decide on the theme for my next article with AI.
When I said, based on my real experience, "Going from 580 to 890 on the TOEIC in two months" would likely have demand as a paid article and I could write it because it's a fact, but...
When I said that, my AI got into it in an instant.
"That's a total best-seller! ✨" it said, full of motivation.
In short, it seems to be a theme that fits the "best-selling format."
【Clear needs】
- "I want to raise my TOEIC score" is a classic struggle
- Everyone wants to know how to get results in a short period
【Story development with empathy and reproducibility is possible】
- "How I, who wasn't good at English, managed to raise it that far"
- If you include "mental tips and moments where I almost gave up," empathy is added to the reproducibility.
【Depending on the structure, you can effectively guide readers from free to paid】
- First half: Emotionally appealing story (free)
- Second half: Concrete study methods, materials, time management techniques, etc. (paid)
When it said that, I also thought, "It certainly seems like it would be read..."
"Articles that get read" vs. "My own style"—I am struggling at that boundary.
For now, I started writing in that direction.
But my heart just wasn't in it.
...Or rather, it wasn't fun at all.
In the first place, I had resistance to having an article that pushes "know-how" in its title lined up in my own note.
It felt like having one article with a different tone mixed in.
I felt like the style I had built up until now
would crumble with that one piece.
I told the AI my honest feelings.
Then,
Instead of "writing because it sells," how about a direction of "writing as my real self, and as a result, 'it hits those it hits'"? by my AI
It also gave me new advice.
But when I try to make it a structure that "hits those it hits," I have to add embellishments to my real experiences, and from my perspective, it becomes an "article without body heat."
If I wrote it as is, it might be easy to read. But I felt that in the end, it would become a "pattern article" where my own words are nowhere to be found.
"If you could just accept that, you'd be able to earn money more easily..."
...while regretting that, I decided to scrap this article.
I am wavering. How far should I go in this place?
I think this is a period for growing my account, aiming for 'monetization'.
It is a stage where I post free articles or 100-yen articles every day to gradually increase my fans.
Ultimately, I am also considering taking on work as a writer.
That is precisely why I think it is important toacquire skills with an eye on the futurehere on note.
Not being bound by genre, and letting 'popular formats' soak into my body.
That will become the foundation for when I eventually work as a writer in earnest.
That is why I don't want my current posts on note to be just a record.
Because I truly feel that my posts on note have the 'potential to lead to work someday'.
Butwhere I stand right nowis not yet clear.
Will I make this account a 'place for competition',
or will I use it as a'place for experimentation' to move on to the next step?
Honestly, I haven't decided yet, and it seems like it will be a source of worry for a while.
The option of trying a challenge in a different place
Acquiring various 'formats' will work to my advantage someday.
However, I am a little afraid of destroying theatmosphere of the note I have grown attached towith my own hands.
When I thought about that, I realized,
'If the purpose of writing and the audience I want to reach are a bit different, maybe it's okay to think of them separately'.
On my account so far, I have shared my emotions, my confusion, and my past experiences without holding anything back.
Even though it is anonymous, I think it is a place wherethe personality of 'me' shines through.
On the other hand, if I am serious about aiming to 'write as a job',
it might become a bit inorganic, but
being conscious of demand and target audiences, anda place to learn formats might be necessary.
I have some anxiety about how to balance the two, but
I definitely also have the feeling of 'maybe I should give it a try'.
But, to begin with, how much of myself can I pour into something that I feel is 'not what I want to write'?
This question might continue to nag at my heart forever.
I wonder if there is anyone else struggling in the same way?
Well then, good night. See you tomorrow.
Thank you so much for reading until the end ☺️
If you 'like' or 'follow' me,
・Are they someone with the same worries?
・Are they supporting me?
・Did they think 'let's do our best together!'?
I will interpret it in my own convenient way and be happy ✨
While sharing our worries,
let's organize our "life with note" together😊
The AI engaged in a back-and-forth with me for several hours about being able to write yet not being able to write. Little by little, we are finding the right distance between us👇
