I Who Want to Stay and Apple That Keeps Moving Forward

About a week ago, my LINE notifications suddenly stopped coming through.

At first, I didn't notice. After all, my LINE is basically quiet. I have notifications turned off for all official LINE accounts, and the number of friends I keep in touch with is limited. (Please don't call me a lonely person.)

I noticed something was wrong when I happened to open LINE after work. There shouldn't have been a red circle indicating notifications on the top right of the icon, but when I launched the app, several messages had arrived.

Is it acting up today? I thought, and when I searched for "LINE notifications not coming" on X, I found that a considerable number of people were experiencing the same issue.

If it's not just me, it will probably be fixed soon.
I thought that and left it alone for a while, but it just wouldn't get fixed.
Since notifications for other apps are fine, I can only think it's a bug with LINE.

I was getting by without much trouble even without notifications, but I had a problem because I was going to have a meal with a junior colleague who had contacted me for the first time in a while. It's annoying when the communication to decide on a meeting place is delayed.
If anything, they are likely thinking "it's not coming" far more than I am thinking "the reply isn't coming." I feel bad.

Restarting the app didn't work. Trying to restart the iPhone itself didn't work. I'd rather avoid uninstalling it...

I had no choice, so this time I searched for "LINE notifications not coming" on Google. Then, the possibility that the smartphone itself is not updated emerged. What is that?

It is true that my iPhone hasn't had an iOS update in a while. That's because I couldn't update it due to a lack of storage space.
The countless photos and videos I've taken over the years are eating up my storage. I kept thinking I should organize them, but I didn't have the energy to face this massive amount of data.

However, I couldn't keep saying that. I made up my mind to face the photo folder. Anyway, I'll move the photos I want to keep to my computer. This is no time to be picky about what to delete.

When I finally opened the photo folder,
among the recent photos, Osaka-Kansai Expo the number of photos I took is extraordinary.
Then, weddings photos are also there in large numbers.
Dressing up at Disneyland also resulted in quite a lot of photos. Going back further, photos from training camps, drinking parties, and trips I went on during my student days keep coming out...

I worked hard back then. That was fun. Uh, what was this again...?

While doing that, I diligently moved photos and videos to my computer until I secured the capacity needed for the update.
That's right. This was a task I started to update my iPhone, not to organize my photos in the first place. I almost forgot my main purpose. That was close.

And before I knew it, it was starting to get bright outside the window. I feel like I can hear chirping somewhere, too. This is bad. Even though it's a weekday.

I managed to free up enough space, started the update installation, and even in my somewhat dazed state, I managed to set my alarm before getting into bed. I can't help but think it might have been better to just stay awake, but going to work without any sleep at all is impossible. I want to get some sleep, even if I have to fake being sick.

The anxiety that I might not be able to wake up turned out to be unfounded, and I managed to wake up at my usual time and go to work. Good job, me. No, not really a good job at all. It definitely would have been better to put off the update and just go to sleep.

Having avoided faking sick, I worked as usual—no, even more diligently than usual. I ran into some frustrating issues, but I managed to get through them.
I'm really glad I work in a place where, if I say I couldn't make progress on checking things because I was frustrated, a colleague will say, 'You did your best.' Seriously, thank you.

And as for my LINE, the notifications were successfully restored. It seems the old iOS was indeed the cause. Updates are important, aren't they?

However, there is still a problem remaining.
There is a widespread rumor that this might be the last iOS update for the iPhone I'm using. By the way, it's an SE 2nd generation (hereafter SE2).

I love the size and lightness of the SE2 that fits in my palm, and I've been using it carefully because I can't bear to part with it, but it's a problem if support ends and security becomes vulnerable. What should I do? While I think I finally need to seriously consider changing models, for now, I still want to hold onto my memories with the SE2.
