"Asahi Never Fails" by Mikoto Mashita
Nice to meet you. I have decided to write my thoughts on the novels I read here. My words may be clumsy and my interpretations may differ, but I would appreciate it if you could go easy on me as these are just my personal impressions.
-----------------------------------------------I could empathize a little with the pain of Asahi, who was raised to believe that never failing is the definition of success. To outsiders, it might look like a mother who is just enthusiastic about education or cares deeply for her daughter, but depending on how you look at it, the mother could be seen as a toxic parent, and it could even be perceived as abuse.
It was shocking that her actions led to murder as I read on, driven by the feeling of wanting to escape from over-interference, but there were parts of this that I also empathized with regarding Asahi. A work with this much suspense and thrill is truly one of a kind.
