What is the goal of an actor? - From my perspective as a non-actor -
People often say things like, a good actor is one who 'becomes that person' rather than just playing a role and so on.
I truly, honestly think that's true.
Setting that as a goal and 'remaining in the world of the work' is absolutely true. As someone who writes, directs, and leads productions, I am very grateful for that spirit. Since the process of reaching that point is different for everyone, I think that's where 'compatibility' issues arise.
Now, what I want to talk about isn't the story of each individual work.
Where are actors as a whole heading?
That is what I mean.
'I want to be in a movie.'
'I'm going to perform at [Theater Name]! (Fill in the New National Theatre or whatever you like.)' 'I want to work with [Name].'
'I want to be recognized by the world.'
'I want to prove my parents/siblings/that person who made fun of me in high school wrong.'
I thought of the above in five seconds. I think everyone has various goals. It shouldn't just be 'I want to make money.'
I think it's complicated because an actor's job is the continuous proof of existence: 'being there,' 'reacting,' and 'continuing to live.' Because the act itself is the process, it doesn't become the goal.
Since I am a theater person whose job is writing and directing, my only mission in life is to bring theatrical works into this world. I don't think about anything else. So, my goal is... perhaps it's easy to understand. I was able to put it into words.
Well, but I am human too. I can't survive without money. I can't live on three acorns. That's why I thought of the 'Self-Reliant Distribution Model' = 'Ito Kikaku,' but that's fine. I'll toss the 'Distribution Model' over there! ...Clang, clatter, roll... poof! (

And what I want to say is, I wonder where we are right now—the place where 'actors' and 'I' are standing.
For actors, and for me too, 'Who is this work for?'
Why are we doing this? For ourselves, our peers, or society? Social contribution is just a lie you tell when applying for grants. Maybe there is a desire to preserve the theater community. 'For the audience' is true, but it's a phrase that comes at the very end.
Well, so, everyone is in the middle of a process.
Passing point P.
If so, if you ultimately aim for a 'goal,' the means becomes 'to continue.' Including myself.
'Well, there's no harm in appearing in it.'
Playwright and director, that is Takeshi Ito.
And, to be honest about this too,
“Someone who is good at acting and builds a group peacefully.”
I need actors.
Order comes first, and then someone who is skilled.
Now, I take responsibility for the work, but I cannot take responsibility for an actor's life.
Hmm, I've thought about it a lot, but that's impossible.
I can only say that's what being a professional is all about.
Oriza Hirata has a play titled “Alone Even When Next to Someone.”
He really writes such good things, Oriza-san.
We are each heading toward the goal alone.
Keeping a good distance from each other,
and reaching the goal without conflict.
That is our supreme mission.
It's lonely, but it can't be helped.
So, let's have fun.
…Somehow, the conclusion wasn't where I thought it would be.
Well, I guess it's fine as long as I'm standing.
