Even if I can't see it, I am receiving so much love
Thank you for finding this article among the many notes out there. I'm Pino, a physical therapist for 10 years, now working as a chiropractor, living with my husband, my 7-year-old child, and a rabbit.
Today, I'd like to talk about our rabbit, Moi.
🐰 The day we named her "Moi"
The reason we have a rabbit in our home is because
my daughter started saying she wanted to keep one.
It was the start.
It was my daughter who gave her a name.
"Moi".
The reason was simply because the sound was cute.
That was the reason.
And just like that,
a new little family member joined our home.
😢 The day we were told it wouldn't heal
It was about two months after she came to our home.
I noticed that Moi's right eye
had become a little cloudy.
There was a small white spot inside her eye.
Thinking something was wrong,
I took her to the vet the very next day.
The vet's diagnosis was "uveitis".
It's not a rare disease, but
I was told it would never heal.
The moment I heard those words,
my mind went blank.
Why did she get sick?
What did I do wrong?
Sadness, shock, and regret
all welled up at once.
From then on,
a life of applying eye drops three times a day began.
🌿 So full of life, you wouldn't think she couldn't see
The vet told me
that she couldn't see out of one eye.
But,
when I look at Moi, she doesn't bump into things, and her body doesn't tilt.
I often think to myself,
maybe she can actually see.
Thankfully,
other than her eye, there is nothing wrong with her,
and she eats her pellets and timothy hay well.
She drinks her water properly, too.
Rabbits are creatures
that become active at dawn and dusk,
and Moi also suddenly dashes around in the morning and evening,
jumps up, digs at the floor,
and runs through tunnels.
Every time I see her like that,
I find myself whispering in my heart.
"Thank you for being healthy."
Moi, a member of our family
Moi is a family member who came to our home because my daughter wanted her.
Watching Moi groom herself, my daughter always happily tells me,
"Look, right now, she's so cute."
They walk around the room together,
and play something like a game of tag in my daughter's own way.
She can't hold her yet, but
she pets her and brushes her.
She does the caretaking that she is able to do.

My husband also cleans the cage
when he has time.
Each of us in the family
spends time with Moi in our own way.
💛How I, who kept my distance, have changed
Until now,
we have also kept medaka fish, frogs, and rhinoceros beetles
in our home.
At that time,
I had a strong desire to watch over them in as natural a state as possible,
so I would set up their environment, feed them,
and then just observe them quietly from the outside.
I interacted with them with that kind of distance.
But Moi is different.
We play together and pet her.
When Moi wants to play,
she nudges me with her nose.
When she runs out of pellets,
she moves her bowl to prompt me.
That kind of two-way communication
exists between Moi and me.
I still feel sorry
that she developed an eye disease.
If she hadn't come to our home,
maybe she wouldn't have gotten this disease.
I'm sorry I couldn't cure you.
That feeling is still in my heart.
Even so, Moi is living energetically today.
She jumps, and suddenly dashes around.
Even though she should be a creature with a strong sense of caution,
she sleeps in a completely relaxed state.
When I see her like that, I find her unbearably adorable,
and I want to cherish this time.
Perhaps,
we might not be able to be together for long.
That is exactly why I want to cherish the present.
This time I spend with Moi
is an irreplaceable, treasure-like time.
🐾Thank you, Moi-chan
Lately, rather than regret,
gratitude has become greater.
Even though Moi can no longer see,
she continues to live each day to the fullest.
That way of living
reminds me of something very important.
If you can feel happy today,
that alone is already enough..
Meeting Moi,
being able to spend time with Moi,
being able to play together,
all of these things
are not to be taken for granted, but are things to be grateful for.
Thank you for coming to our home.
I am happy that we can spend time together.
I love you so much, Moi-chan.
Thank you, Moi-chan✨
Thank you for reading
until the end.
If you felt that you could relate to this,
it would be a great encouragement
if you could leave a like or follow.
Please feel free to leave a comment as well.
