To my fellow job seekers. The results of trying out 'The World's Easiest Way to Find What You Want to Do' Part 1
Hello ☺️🍵
Since the New Year, I have been reading
The World's Easiest Way to Find What You Want to Do by Jinpei Yagi and working on the
self-understanding exercises.
And so ⛄️
After nearly a month, I have finally managed to write down
① What is important (values) ② What I am good at (strengths) ③ What I like (passions)
✨

This book is amazing!!!
It feels
far more right than any aptitude test I took at vocational school, and it makes me feel relieved to finally have something that teaches me how to find the answer.
Like how I kept quitting every time I worked thinking, "I should find a job that makes use of my qualifications...".
Or how I was just wandering around thinking, "I'll just try everything to increase my options!
".
I realized very well that I was wrong 😂 ahaha
The final part, combining the words I wrote down, is difficult, so I haven't reached the complete answer yet... lol
I'm writing down my progress so I don't forget! I hope this is helpful to others who are feeling lost in their job search 🦔🦔🦔✏️
The reason I decided to read 'The World's Easiest Way to Find What You Want to Do'

"What is it that I want to do... and I'm not young anymore..."
"If I keep going like this, I'll just keep racking up job changes
and getting older..."
"I like writing and drawing illustrations,
but when it comes to 'making it a job',
it just doesn't feel right..."
At the end of December, while I was wallowing in despair and
worrying, I came across
a video by Oriental Radio's Acchan.
Whoa, wow! What is this? It's amazing!
When I looked it up, I found out it was available for unlimited reading on Kindle Unlimited, so I immediately clicked to buy the book💪
Acchan's video is very easy to understand, but
I still recommend buying the book!
The reason is, I'd think, 'I value these kinds of things, but
how should I put this into words...?'
and the words just wouldn't come to me at first.
(I couldn't turn them into idioms like "independence" or "challenge")
But, at the end of the book,
there is a list of keywords and their meanings,so it's easy to apply similar words and keep moving forward!✨
A values-finding exercise to discover what you truly hold dear

First, to find your "important things (values)",
"Who is someone you respect?"
and so on. You answer the questions one by one, but at first, I couldn't think of anything at all.
(Work = scary & painful, so I didn't have anyone like that, or I haven't lived my life actively engaging with people that much. It's hopeless...😇)
But you know what?
This book is very kind, and it even teaches
how to do journaling (writing meditation)
for people who can't think of anything✨
When I did that, names like Gomaki and Sho Hirano
came up.
The ultimate idols!!! lol
When I asked myself why I am so drawn to idols,
I realized
"someone who uses their performance skills
to captivate people"
is something I have a huge admiration for. (The value keywords that came up here are
[EXPRESSION][CAPTIVATION])
Also, I thought my vocational school teacher was great, too, because they made their own decisions
and enjoyed themselves without being tied down by anything.
It felt like there was no such thing as success or failure, and they were lively without worrying about those around them.
[FREEDOM][AUTONOMY][BEING ONESELF]
I also respect the seniors in my writer community who didn't dismiss my feelings and were there for me [SINCERITY][PEACE OF MIND]

(I didn't have any sticky notes, so I used stickers I had lying around instead)
Feeling uneasy or dissatisfied = understanding your values
When asked what is lacking in today's society or what I am dissatisfied with,
I recalled the time I worked in welfare.
"Why do I get sarcastic remarks all the next day
when I take a day off for a cold?"
"Is there anything more important than health?"
"And besides, what if I pass it on to the children?"
I felt uneasy like this.
But because of this, I was treated like a lazy sloth with no motivation for work, a spoiled brat, or a failure as a working adult...
Eventually, I started hiding it even when I was feeling unwell,
and as a result, I developed adjustment disorder
and had no choice but to quit my job.
Having lost my mother and grandparents at a young age, I really believe that humans can die in the blink of an eye. I feel like I'm just happening to be alive right now.
That is precisely why I have a huge resistance to the idea that being an adult means pushing yourself and enduring things you hate.
Even with cold waves and heavy snow like we've had recently, I find it baffling that it's considered normal for everyone to push themselves to go to work even in dangerous conditions.
(Of course, I understand that there are jobs that cannot be taken off, such as those involving life-or-death situations, and I am grateful for them...)
Through these exercises, I was reminded once again that for me, the importance of taking care of my health is extremely high🌿
New discoveries by asking others! It can be a bit difficult if you don't have many friends.
"What do you think I value?"
The exercise that says to ask family and friends this was a bit difficult for me since I only have one family member and one friend I can talk to easily... lol
But when I asked, they gave me so many answers.
Honestly, it was interesting to see unexpected sides of myself that I hadn't noticed before~☺️☺️
"You really value your relationships with people, don't you?"
What! I thought I had zero cooperativeness! lol But it's true, I actually do want to enjoy things and achieve goals with my peers. [
Peers] [Harmony]
"Maybe yourself? I think it's amazing how you always seriously face your own heart! (The fact that you're doing this exercise itself)"
(Wow! Is the fact that I'm actually doing this exercise properly amazing in itself?😂 Are there people who don't face themselves that seriously...)
I used to view myself negatively, thinking I only think about myself and am selfish, but it says that it's important to satisfy your own values first, and maybe giving to others can come after that? → [As I am]

You're quite particular about appearance and manners, aren't you?
Ugh... maybe so. It's not that I'm incredibly interested in fashion, but I do care about things like color balance and whether something is appropriate for the occasion, and I do worry about what others think.
Also, I get annoyed when I see people who don't follow the rules, talk loudly, or smoke... → {Virtue}{Politeness}{Health}{Aesthetic sense})
So, what is my value ranking that I created...?

But, actually, this ranking creation took
an incredibly long time.
It didn't form a pyramid well... *cries*
And from here, I will extract the {purpose of work}. (*Necessary and important for the end of the exercise)
In my case
Purpose of life: Living in harmony with friends and nature
Purpose of work: Increasing the number of people who live authentically as themselves
This is what I came up with🌸
Hmm, is this really okay?
It feels like me, and it resonates. But,
isn't it... super ordinary??? lol
When you do this alone, it makes you feel anxious, doesn't it.
If there is anyone who has read the book or is planning to try it out,
please, by all means, share your values
in the comments~🦔🤲
Alright then.
Next, I'll be summarizing ② Strengths (Good points)
next~~
(Waaaaah😭)
