The Possibilities of Tea.
Happy New Year!
Thank you for all your support last year. I look forward to working with Onuma Farm again this year.
Last year, I was only able to post about once every two months. But when I look back at it, it feels like a short diary, and it was just the right amount.
How did everyone spend their year-end and New Year holidays?
I was selling crepes from my mobile shop until the 30th. (I took the 31st off due to heavy snow.)
I will be selling crepes again for about three days starting tomorrow ^^
(For details, please check the Onuma Farm Twitter account*)
You are all busy people, but please try to truly relax during the year-end and New Year holidays ( ´艸`) Whether it's lounging around, watching Netflix, or watching Amazon Prime...
As for me, I've been holding a lonely solo tea party with black tea almost every day lol
I've been incredibly hooked on it lately, and the reason is the influence of a friend who runs a cafe at home in Kesennuma City.
What that friend usually serves at the shop is Japanese black tea (like Gokase or Yakitsuki), and I was instantly captivated by its gentle, mellow flavor... ( *´艸`)
What surprised me was that it has a faint taste of honey, or perhaps flower nectar!!
I thought, 'Is black tea really this different?' and then, 'If so, I want to try drinking various other kinds!!'
Besides that, I also like Keemun and Assam.
Just the other day, I tried brewing milk tea with Keemun and royal milk tea with Assam, and both were a huge success!!
I was able to brew them incredibly deliciously ( *´艸`)
And last month, that tea-loving friend and I held an afternoon tea party together ( *´艸`)!!
I started baking the Bûche de Noël sponge the day before, baked scones from the morning of the day, set the table, bought flowers, and decorated...
The tea we drank during the breaks in between was also exquisite.
Also, it seems that clotted cream is a must for scones, and since I wanted to faithfully reproduce it where possible, I made it (lol).
Since clotted cream wasn't sold at the local supermarket, I put animal-based heavy cream in a plastic bottle and kept shaking it for 20 minutes...original clotted cream was completed!!
And the image shows the completed tea party ( *´艸`)
We ate lots of sweets while drinking tea, and even though I knew we weren't supposed to eat from the bottom of the stand and go back up, when I wanted something salty between the sweet treats, I would go back to the first tier and eat the sandwiches... lol
Anyway, it was a fun afternoon tea!
I imagine it ends in about an hour and a half to two hours.
Besides the benefit of being able to relax, tea involves small communications here and there, such as 'Pass the cream,' 'Can I have some sugar?', or 'Would you like a scone?'. Also, I find myself talking even in scenes where there might be some silence, such as while waiting for the tea to cool down or while serving the tea food. lol
It was possible to sustain the excitement...
Coffee time is also wonderful, but it feels like you can stay there longer with tea.... As proof of that, there are three cups of tea in the teapot. The amount of tea food is impossible for one person to finish.
Everything feels like the words, 'Please take your time, you are welcome'.
Even if that is just etiquette, when I think of the face of the person who prepared it all, I can't just drink one cup, eat one scone, and say 'Thank you for the meal' (lol).
There is a hypothesis that the reason there is so much tea food is that leftovers were a sign of high status, but that doesn't fit the current era, does it?
I will eat it, to the limit!! lol
And after holding it this time, I decided to hold this tea party regularly with my friend!
People who want to gather in small groups, people who aren't experts but somehow like the scent and taste of tea, people who like the cuteness of teacups and teapots, people who are interested in tea food, and so on...
I thought it would be fun to gather such women and have a tea party with 5-6 people once a month!
And if it could be used as a place for interaction for people who want to do something in the Kesennuma and Minamisanriku regions, or for people who have already started something and want friends, that is the best form I can imagine...
It's a social gathering without alcohol, but because of that, the words spoken are genuine, and the memories are clear. lol
Hmm, tea is truly wonderful!
When the Onuma Farm cafe is built, I will definitely brew tea and create a time for customers to relax...
