Let's Think About How to Start the Best Day! ~The Key is to Do Everything Intentionally!~
Waking up in the morning: When you wake up in the morning, there is a physical awakening and a mental awakening. The beginning of a new day signifies the start of new possibilities, learning, and encounters. I always think about wanting to start that day feeling good. My recent morning routine feels right, so I plan to continue it for the time being.
Physical awakening: First, it is about becoming aware of the sensations in your body when you wake up. It is not about being groggy, but about being intentionally aware. I have been taking morning walks for over a month now. While breathing in the fresh morning air, I walk while self-observing the sensations and condition of my body. I try to feel the sensation of my body waking up by being conscious of the feeling of blinking and my breathing.
Walking meditation: When I am walking, various emotions and thoughts cross my mind. However, I try to let them come and go, come and go, as much as possible. It is the image of doing the so-called mindfulness that you do while sitting, but while walking. Since I have developed body awareness, this method feels right for me. Through this, I can once again realize the sensation that I have a physical body.
*When I am feeling good, I incorporate bodyweight strength training at certain points. This allows me to be even more conscious of my physical sensations. The key is not intense exercise, but raising your "heart rate" to a certain extent. It should definitely make you feel better.
Mental and intellectual awakening: Next, after returning home and taking a shower, I sit at my desk. I move from the physical to the mental, and then to the awakening of the brain. Here too, it is not just about aimless thinking, but the image of rehearsing the day. I try to imagine and visualize fun and exciting things as much as possible. Although it is actually quite difficult, since I am in a clear-headed state, I try to input high-quality information through reading or social media, and then output it.
Active start: Like this, my recent morning routine involves experiencing the physical awakening -> mental awakening -> intellectual awakening, which activates my morning time and changes my attitude toward the start of the day. Since everyone's biological rhythm of body cells is different, I think this is painful for people who are not morning people, but I feel it is far more active and productive than a passive attitude of just waking up and letting time pass.
Good state: I approach a state of consciousness where I spend the day proactively and maximize all the experiences and learning I can have. And then, I head to work.
*By the way, I do not eat breakfast. I have been continuing this for several years. This is to intentionally incorporate partial fasting into my day and reduce the burden on my internal organs.
The power of a sense of self-control: The above is how I start my day at the moment. To make the day my own, in other words, to be the protagonist of the day rather than a slave to it, the feeling of controlling the day myself is pleasant. Is there a saying that he who conquers the morning conquers the day? Let's think about an original start to make our daily lives richer.
