37 years old, father of 3. My "counter-attack diet" record after hitting an all-time high of 75kg due to New Year's weight gain.
Gyoza is delicious, isn't it?
Introduction: The annual "Winter Weight Gain Campaign"
Does anyone else gain weight over the New Year holidays?
I do. ...Or rather, it's an annual tradition for me (lol).
Osechi, toshikoshi soba, New Year's grilled mochi, and ozoni.
Tracing it back, it starts with Kentucky Fried Chicken at Christmas, all the way to the luxurious feasts at the end of the year...
I love it all!!! (lol)
"Gain weight in the winter, lose it by summer. That's the law of nature!"
That's what I've been telling myself. But I realized it after turning 30.
"Wait... the weight isn't coming off, is it...?"
January 7, 2026, the fateful weigh-in.
The reality hit me with a cruel number, even though I had been keeping my best weight from high school, "62kg," in the back of my mind.
Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Weight after a bath... "75kg"😱😱😱
"No, I have no one to blame but myself!"
I had to tell myself that.
• I couldn't stop eating ice cream at night...
• I kept acting like the "waste-not old man" with the fries and nuggets my kids left behind when we ate out...
• I ate the birthday cakes for my three sons with full force every time, like I was the guest of honor...
• Using the excuse that "the kids like it," I kept going for the carb combos of McDonald's, ramen, fried rice, and udon...
Yes, it's 100% my own fault!!!! (lol)
The result of trying to fight it seriously for one month
"This is really bad. I have to at least get my body into a state where I can show it in public by the relative's wedding in February..."
With that resolve, I challenged myself to a diet for one month.
Even though I move my body every day for my self-employed job (landscaping), I spent my days reflecting on how I had been eating even more than that.
The result...
Today, February 12, 2026.
Weight after a bath... "68.9kg"!!!!!
Yeah!!!! (lol)
I managed to lose about 6kg in one month.
About the future
Honestly, right now, the fear of "I'm so scared of rebounding!!!" is stronger than the sense of accomplishment (lol).
As long as my motivation lasts, I intend to keep a record of how I lost the weight and how I'm managing to keep it off without rebounding.
Why keep a record? ...Because no one else will praise me!!!!!
I want to be recognized by someone! Even middle-aged guys have a need for approval!!!!
...! Oh! I lost my composure! Sorry!
What kind of diet methods are you all trying?
