"Before the Coffee Gets Cold" series volume 6!
In a certain town,
at a certain cafe,
there was a mysterious urban legend about a certain seat.
It is said that if you sit in that seat,
only while you are sitting in that seat,
you can travel to the "time" you desire.
However, there were troublesome...
very troublesome rules.
1. Even if you return to the past, you cannot meet anyone who has not visited this cafe.
2. Even if you make every effort after returning to the past, reality will not change.
3. A woman in a white dress is always sitting in that seat.
4. You can only sit in that seat when the woman leaves it.
5. Even if you return to the past, you cannot leave the seat to move around.
The time limit is from the moment the coffee is poured into the cup until that coffee gets cold.
These are not the only troublesome rules.
Nevertheless, customers who have heard the rumors of the urban legend visit this cafe again today.
The name of the cafe is Funiculi Funicula.
This story is about four heartwarming miracles that occurred in such a mysterious cafe.

Synopsis
The cafe "Funiculi Funicula" has a special seat that allows you to return to the past. However, there are strict rules for using that seat.
Within these constraints, four people decide to return to the past:
The daughter who could not call her mother
The man waiting for a reply from her
The woman who wants to know her own future
The middle school student who goes to meet his deceased father
In the first story, Azami Kishimoto, who struggled with her relationship with her stepmother, realizes her stepmother's love for the first time after becoming an adult and returns to the past to apologize.
In the second story, middle school student Tomokazu Okishima returns to the past to convey his feelings, which he couldn't express to Kanna Kozaki due to a misunderstanding, seven years later.
In the third story, Rika Kabe, who has been diagnosed with cancer, travels to the future to learn her own fate five years later.
In the fourth story, middle school student Tsuguo Suga, who wants to meet his father who passed away suddenly, returns to the past.
Commentary
"Before You Realize the Affection" is themed around "misunderstandings."
It carefully depicts the misunderstandings that arise precisely because people are close, and the affection that is lost before one realizes it.
Toshikazu Kawaguchi deeply contemplates the turning points in life.
The passage, "If you could see the future, you could avoid regrets. It is because you cannot that you suffer," symbolizes the theme of this work.
Impressions
"Before You Realize the Affection" is a work that resonates deeply in the heart.
While reading, I was made to reflect on my own life and think about my relationships with the people who are important to me.
What left a particularly strong impression on me was the first story, which depicts the relationship with a stepmother.
In modern times, where family structures are diversifying, it touched my heart to see a form of love that transcends blood ties.
Toshikazu Kawaguchi's gentle writing style carefully portrays the subtle emotions of the characters and invites empathy.
The hope that even if you cannot change the past, you can apply that experience to your future life is conveyed throughout the story.
Reading this book gave me an opportunity to re-examine my relationships with the people around me.
I felt firsthand the importance of noticing the "affection" that is easy to overlook in daily life.
I feel this is a book worth re-reading when you stand at a crossroads in life or when you are troubled by a relationship with someone important to you.
