You can use Makita 18V batteries as power banks! The Waitley USB charging adapter was surprisingly useful!
I do mountain development as a hobby, and I love using Makita power tools for my outdoor work.
If you use Makita, you probably know that you end up bringing several 18V batteries to the job site.
Then, it suddenly occurred to me.
"Wouldn't it be great if I could use these batteries to charge my smartphone?"
So, I went and found it.
A USB charging adapter that lets you use Makita 18V batteries as a power bank.
This is the set of two Waitley "USB charging adapters compatible with Makita 18V" that arrived.
They are finished in the familiar blue color of Makita products, so they blend in perfectly lol
The bottom is designed to slide onto a Makita 18V battery. Looking at the connection point, the metal terminals are well-made and don't feel cheap at all.
There are two ports on the top.
OUT1: PD (Type-C)
OUT2: QC3.0 (USB-A, the red one)
Since it supports both Type-C PD and QC3.0 (Quick Charge 3.0), it's a reassuring setup for emergencies.
I quickly attached it to a Waitley Makita-compatible 18V 6Ah battery.
It clicked into place, and there was absolutely no wobbling.
Just plug a cable in here and connect it to your smartphone or camera.
That's it. It's incredibly simple.
I tried connecting it to my Insta360 4 Air, and it displayed "Charging..." as expected and charged without any issues ^^
If my smartphone battery is about to die while working outdoors, being able to charge it immediately with a Makita tool battery on hand is going to be more convenient than I imagined.
The situations where I use Makita 18V batteries are almost always outdoors. Those are the exact places where there are no outlets, and I often forget to bring a power bank.
But as long as I have this adapter, the Makita battery I'm already carrying with my tools becomes a power bank.
The fact that it comes in a set of two is also a nice bonus, so you can keep one attached to multiple tools.
I think this is a must-have item for any Makita user. I highly recommend it!
