100 Things to Do Before I Die: A Bucket List is a Mirror Reflecting Me. Engaging with an AI-Proposed List

I am Naho, a life coach who wants to be the silence and light of winter.

In the midst of a journey of peeling away, returning, and budding.
I value the rhythm of returning to a floating state after sparkling.
When I feel cramped, I gently roll toward where I feel more freedom.

Here is a look back at the list I wrote in 2024 👇

What are the things you want to do before you die?

Climb Mt. Fuji
Walk through life with a wonderful partner
See my grandchildren's faces

If I were to write a bucket list, what do you think I would write? Please organize them by category.

I asked it like this

I threw out that question and am now commenting on the list that came out.
I think I'll add the good ones to my list.

I am making this list in 2024.
I am thinking of updating it.
Swapping things out.

Also, there are things from my 2024 list that have actually come true.
I printed it on paper and stuck it on the wall until I moved.

I didn't specify categories to the AI, but I thought it did a good job of balancing them nicely.

Some things were close to what I wrote on last year's list, and some I have already done.
Depending on the category, there is a difference between things that feel right and things that feel a bit off.
I thought a list was something that depicts the future, but it's a mirror reflecting the me of last year and the me of today.

① Travel, Places, and Connecting with the Earth

  1. Walk through the mossy forests of Yakushima
Yakushima is also on the list I made last year. However, I hadn't written down specifically what I wanted to do, so I thought 'walk through the mossy forest' was very good. I like taking walks, so I want to feel the trees as I walk.

  2. Soak in the silence at the Teshima Art Museum
Something I want to do right now! It knows me well. It's a place to wash my heart. What I realized when I saw it again is that it's not about soaking in 'silence'.Returning to myself, or meeting my mother—isn't it? This connection is incredibly important! I want people who haven't been there to go without any prior knowledge. There is only one piece of art, 'Matrix'. I didn't feel it was the right time because my consciousness was turned inward, but now it feels like the right time!

  3. Listen to the sound of snow in Hokkaido
I want to go to Hokkaido to spend the summer. I feel poetry in the expression of listening to the 'sound of snow'.

  4. Hug my coach in Germany🌟
This also feels really good! My first personal coach lives in Germany -> I was able to hug them in Tokyo in February

  5. Breakfast alone at a cafe in Paris
Paris, huh. I took French as my second language in college, and a friend I took the class with lives in France

  6. Morning Zazen at a temple in Kyoto🌟
Want to do -> Thought I'd do it next month, seems doable -> Was able to do it in January

  7. Participate in an overseas ZINE festival
I'm exhibiting for the first time in Kochi next month. Overseas, huh. More than that, I want to publish a book. 'Want to publish a book' was also on last year's list

  8. Morning yoga in Bali
I want to go on a retreat in Southeast Asia

  9. Live in a small house in the forest for a week
    What is this like?

  10. Have a 'favorite bench' along the coast in Kagawa
This feels like it has come true. It's not quite a 'favorite,' but I tend to sit on the same bench

  11. Gaze at the starry sky in the mountains of Nagano.
Nagano is a place I want to visit. I've read about it in novels and have longed to go.

  12. Travel across the islands of the Seto Inland Sea by boat.
Working remotely while on a boat is actually on my vision board for this year!

  13. Try getting lost in some unknown country.
Oh? What kind of adventurous spirit is this?

  14. Try walking a portion of the Shikoku Pilgrimage.
I want to do this! When I lived in Imabari, I used to see people doing the pilgrimage.

  15. A do-nothing retreat at a seaside hotel.
Something close to this would be a reading retreat. Staying at a hotel just to read books.

② Connecting with people and touching love

  1. Walk through life with a partner I can trust from the heart.
I want to meet someone with whom I can share love.

  2. Hold a retreat with my coaching peers.
I feel like I could do this.

  3. Collaborate on a creative project with someone I trust.
It's a bit abstract, but I do want to create something together.

  4. Express the most important gratitude in my life to someone I have coached.
I wonder if I'm already doing something close to this.
I love my coach, and I intend to express my gratitude. However, the 'most important' part is the key.

  5. Go on a 'letter-giving journey' to important friends.
You're really pushing the letter idea, aren't you?
I am already sending letters on note to people I think I love, rather than just friends.

  6. Start a circle for dialogue about love.
I am already participating in a space that someone else opened.

  7. Turn letters to future clients into a book.
The idea of having future clients as the intended readers might be good.

  8. Tell the person I like that I 'like' them in words.
    I'm already doing that!

  9. Reconnect with my family with a new sense of distance.
That is exactly what my father and I want to do. Instead of parent and child, a relationship as one individual to another—I wish I could see that. I am also adjusting the distance with my mother.

  10. Meet someone with whom I can share the silence of 'just being together'🌟
This is quite close to my recent learnings. A person who allows you to just be there without exchanging words → This was embodied at the Kyoto New Year's party in January.

I feel like I want to adopt everything written here.
There are some things I am already practicing.

③ Work, Creation, and Expression

  1. Publish a book on coaching.
This is close to what I have written on my 2024 list.

  2. 10,000 followers on note.
    That's a big ambition.

  3. Establish 'Letters that Deliver Light' as a service
I am already planting small seeds for that.

  4. Systematize my coaching philosophy
I have been putting what I learn and think into words from time to time, and I do want to nurture my own coaching philosophy. However, I never had the perspective of wanting to systematize it.

  5. Create 5 or more paper ZINE series
Oh. You're really pushing for ZINEs, aren't you!

  6. Create coaching cards (Question Omikuji)
This is something I realistically want to make.

  7. PodcastRegularly distribute 'Puka Puka Radio'
I have a channel named 'Puka Puka Radio' on Stand.fm.
I have only released one episode so far.

  8. Fill my schedule with 1-on-1 ongoing clients
That is a realistic wish and a hope.

  9. Create a community (small group size)
I do have a desire to have people I can call friends, and I had that fulfilled this year at my coaching school!

  10. Have overseas clients
I'm not sure what the basis for this is, but I feel like I have a connection with overseas.

  11. Host a talk event by myself
Um, I don't have a desire to speak in front of people.

  12. Create a course for coaches
Hmm, does that mean teaching? I like both learning and teaching, but I had never thought about teaching something to coaches.

  13. Achieve an annual income of 10 million yen as a life coach
That's extremely specific, but it's a big goal.

  14. Be nominated as a trusted mentor
I have consulted with AI about wanting a mentor, but me becoming one!

  15. Give a lecture themed on 'Stillness' and 'Love'
This feels like it's quoting my recent interests directly.

'1. Publish a coaching book' is something close to what I wrote on last year's list, so I nod to that, but the other items feel somewhat unrealistic, or rather, it was interesting to think, 'Oh, so that's what you think I might write.'

Talk events, lectures.
I'm not good at the type of thing where I have to talk to everyone...

4. A Journey of Heart, Emotion, and Spirit

  1. Feel self-trust in my body
    Here and now.

  2. Fully reconcile with my inner child
I'm not sure if 'reconcile' is the right word, but I was able to apologize for the things I wanted to apologize for.

  3. Let go of the filter of fear and see the world neutrally
I am currently in the middle of that transition.

  4. BoundariesBecome someone who can set them without hesitation
I want to be able to adjust and grasp them.

  5. Completely dissolve resistance to receiving I'm gradually getting there
I'm doing it little by little

  6. Naturally be able to love and be loved become able to do so
From a world where love is special to a world where it is natural

  7. Reach the point of saying "It's good because it's me" instead of "I'm fine as I am"
The mantra is that I am fine just as I am

  8. Create a safe base for my heart within myself build it up
A fluffy bed and an orange blanket. Slowpoke.

  9. Be someone who can rely on others
    This feels like a challenge

  10. Live in a world where the habit of self-blaming thoughts disappears

Except for 10, I thought it very accurately reflected the future I want to reach from where I am now.
I don't think I have that many self-blaming thoughts, so it's a bit off the mark.

5. Beauty, Body, and Lifestyle

  1. Improve my posture and become someone who walks beautifully
I am consulting the AI about my poor posture

  2. Live in the body I love most in my life
    I'm consulting about wanting muscle

  3. Establish a fashion style that allows me to naturally enjoy being "cute"
Right here and now, I want to be cute

  4. A life with the space to enjoy makeup
I feel like I'm not good at makeup

  5. A body that can walk briskly in heels
Being able to walk in heels is something I aspire to

  6. A relationship of trust where I can say "I'll leave it to you" at the hair salon
I was asking the hairdresser how to explain things and what bleaching is, so maybe that's why this came up.

  7. Complete a morning routine that delights the five senses
The five senses, huh. I want to be conscious of that

  8. Always keep my favorite flowers in the house
I want a life with flowers. I love flowers

  9. Buy a dress for myself
A dress? I don't have a desire to buy clothes, but I want to wear a lovely dress well

  10. Complete my ideal room and make it a space I want to photograph
I don't really need it to be at a level where I want to photograph it, I just want it to feel natural and beachy

This also feels like it's on the right track.
Though it is a little off.

6. Living, Habits, and Precious Time

  1. Make a morning walk by the sea a habit
Shifting to the afternoon because winter is cold

  2. A habit of finishing one book every season
I want to read as much as I want, whenever I want

  3. A lifestyle of reducing shopping and choosing experiences over things
I do feel like I've started placing more value on experiences

  4. One 'Quiet Day' for myself every week
I feel like this is necessary for me to stay healthy

  5. Share mindful meals in the home where I live with loved ones
Eating is a way of caring for myself, so I want to cherish it

  6. Make morning tea a 'ritual'
My morning habit is actually green tea. I like black tea too, though

  7. Live with plants and know the joy of nurturing them
I feel like I'm doing this. I like nurturing things and it brings me joy

  8. Create weekends for baking bread with care
    I haven't baked bread lately~.

  9. Live with a schedule that has breathing room
I'm currently trying to find that pace

  10. Make a 'world without pushing myself' a habit
To be like a sea otter floating in a pool, natural and relaxed

I thought the importance of breathing room reflects who I am.
I'm very happy because I've really achieved walking by the sea.

⑦ Learning, Curiosity, and Exploration

  1. Study philosophy in earnest
    I like philosophy.

  2. Deepen expertise in psychology (attachment/development)
I'm interested in psychology too. However, in the field of psychology, I'm interested in well-being, and regarding attachment, I'm interested in parent-child relationships, so that's not wrong, but I don't feel like I want to study it professionally.
My current interests are compassion, polyvagal theory, focusing, and adult development theory. I'm also interested in the act of 'care' itself.

  3. Obtain the international coaching certification PCC
I had written this on my 2024 list. I'm not sure if I still want to aim for it now.

  4. Attend a writing course
I don't feel like learning this right now. I think I can write to a certain extent, and I'm not conscious of the quality of the writing itself.

  5. Become able to hold daily conversations in English (or German)
I'm not that interested right now. And if I were to learn, it would be French, not German

  6. Learn photography and take photos with a story
I've recently become interested in photography

  7. Experience cultures of stillness such as tea ceremony and incense ceremony
I thought that was sharp. I'm interested in aromatherapy, and I'm going to experience an incense-making workshop next month. I'm interested in cultures that evoke 'stillness,' such as Zen, tea ceremony, and incense ceremony

  8. Learn the history of art
I think I want to do this

  9. Love Psychology & Deepen the Theory of Love
I am interested in love because I am exploring it. I don't know about love psychology yet because the season hasn't come for me. I'm interested, but it feels distant.

  10. Breathing Techniques & Systematically Master Meditation
Wanting to learn mindfulness was on last year's list.

This category felt a bit distant.
Curiosity is the most important thing to me, but I feel like the AI doesn't really understand where my curiosity lies.

Or perhaps I haven't brought up those topics because I already understand them myself.

⑧ Hobbies, Play, & Pursuing What I Love

  1. A trip to take commemorative photos with my Slowpoke plushies
Do you understand the importance of Slowpoke to me? I do want to take photos with a Slowpoke mascot costume, but... I only have one Slowpoke plushie.

  2. Naturally pull off wearing pink clothes
Why pink? I do want to express myself through fashion, but...

  3. Go to art festivals and literary events🌟
I want to go! I want to go to an Ukiyo-e exhibition -> Ukiyo-e Old Man Festival

  4. Touring delicious tea and scone shops
It would be nice to go to the UK. I visited once when I was a university student.

  5. Create a forest of houseplants
It would be nice to have more plants at home~

  6. Wrap myself in a blanket while watching a movie at night
I don't watch movies that often, but that kind of night sounds nice too.

  7. Collect signed books from my favorite authors
I've been to author signing events a few times, but I don't have that much passion to do it.

  8. See dolphins and whales in the ocean
I have 'go whale watching' written on my list!

  9. Write handwritten letters with beautiful stationery
You're really pushing for letters, aren't you? I'd like to write with a lovely fountain pen.

  10. Create a 'Naho-go Dictionary'
    That's interesting! 'Kirakira-shichau' (sparkling away) is Naho-speak.

⑨ Supporting, Giving Back, & Passing On

  1. Support the moment a client sheds tears and says, 'I'm glad I'm alive'

  2. Witness someone's life turning point
I really want these two things to happen.

  3. Create a phase to provide pro bono coaching to those who need it
    Pro bono?

  4. Support the dreams of fellow coaches and walk alongside them
Isn't this something I'm already doing?

  5. Keep writing letters to my future self
It feels like I'm already writing them now, but I don't think I ever have

  6. Spread the idea of 'it's okay to receive' to the world
This is truly it. You don't have to give first. Give only after you are fulfilled.

  7. Root the coaching culture in Shikoku
I want to root it not just in Shikoku, but in the world

  8. Create a system that circulates love
I think it's something that spreads naturally, though. Is it the love version of sending gratitude?

  9. Honestly say 'thank you' to my past self
It's about me affirming myself, and there are endless ways to change one's perspective

  10. Smile quietly on my last day, thinking 'I'm glad I was me'
    Keep practicing living as myself

The words the AI gave me at the end were impressive.

For the very last one,
I will end with your future voice.

'I truly loved this life.'

Toward a future that suits those words,
let's move forward, one step at a time.

Summary

It was a list that showed me it was thinking based on what I have been talking about.

So, I could tell it understood the categories I talk about a lot, but it felt a bit thin on topics I haven't touched on much.

As for the categorization, it seems close to my own, so I might just use it as is.

I asked for it as a reference, but the time spent commenting on it was also a form ofself-dialogue.

The current me, last year's me, and the AI-proposed list.
It was like a time where the three of us were talking.

I felt it was very good to use the AI's suggestions as a reference while checking, 'Does this fit my current comfort?' or 'Is this season right?'

And I thought it would be better to use it as a hint to expand into things I want to do or feel, rather than just the AI's suggestions themselves.

Listen to the sound of snow in Hokkaido.
I like Hokkaido in the summer. So, as a specific detail, it's a bit off.
However, I think it's good to try expanding on experiences where you can feel this kind of atmosphere and make them concrete.

For example,
Living in two locations: Hokkaido in the summer and a warmer place in the winter. Feeling the crisp, vast land of Hokkaido in the summer, etc.

A bucket list is a living thing.

The AI taught me that.
I wrote about updating and swapping out the list, but I thought it would be nice to engage with it as if I were tuning it to fit me.

Thank you for reading this far.

If something resonated with you,
I would be happy if you took it with you.

Please feel free to leave a like or follow when you have the time.

If you'd like, it's fun to get help from AI to brainstorm, so please give it a try.

If reading this made you feel like talking a little,
I have left a quiet entrance on my profile.

🩷 If you want to know more, please check out this note as well
