I was able to make a manga with Meta AI too. After trying Copilot and Gemini, I realized that 'AI manga can be even simpler'

Previously, I used ChatGPT to write an article about

manga production that starts with 'draw a manga' without creating the script, storyboard, or panel layout myself

.

That's when I wondered.

Is this only possible because of ChatGPT?

If the same approach can be used with other generative AIs, then it's not a method exclusive to one specific AI.

So this time, I actually tried making manga with

• Meta AI

• Copilot

• Gemini

as well.

To sum up,

every AI, while having its own strengths and weaknesses, was able to produce a manga.

Trying to make a manga with Meta AI

First, Meta AI.

When I actually tried it, the images themselves were sufficient for a manga.

On the other hand, the challenge wasthe text within the images.

When I checked with Meta AI itself, it mentioned that it's easier to succeed by keeping the amount of text low or using captions instead of dialogue, rather than including a lot of speech bubbles.

In the manga I generated this time, I also saw some unnatural Japanese in parts, such as the text written on a food stall.

Looking at it the other way,

if it's a manga that uses fewer words and relies on visuals, it seems quite easy to use.

It also worked as a manga with Copilot

Next is Copilot.

Here too, the composition and character movements were properly established as a manga.

However, among those I tried this time, the garbled Japanese text was relatively noticeable.

It is better to think of the ability to create images and the ability to write accurate Japanese within an image as separate things.

Gemini's Japanese didn't break as much as I thought

Finally, Gemini.

Before trying it, I thought the Japanese would be quite broken.

Gemini itself explained that text within images might fail, but in this generation result, it didn't garble as much as I expected.

It's possible it just happened to generate well, or perhaps the model's performance has improved.

At least for this time,

the result was quite close to a manga that can be read as is.

If the text gets garbled, just have another AI fix it

What I felt again after trying this out is,

you don't need to complete everything perfectly with just one AI

that is.

For example,

In that case, you can pass that image to another AI like ChatGPT and ask,

You can just supplement the parts one AI is bad at with another AI.

This way of thinking is also what I value when using AI.

There are various ways to create manga

When you look up how to make AI manga,

storyboard -> plot -> instructions for each panel -> image generation -> adding text

you often see methods where the process is broken down into small steps like this.

There are also ways to use multiple AIs and apps for different tasks.

Of course, if you want to specify things in detail or create a full-scale work, those methods also have great advantages.

However, I started from a point where I had almost no knowledge of manga production.

I don't know how to storyboard.
I don't know how to panel.
I don't intend to write a script either.

So, I reversed my thinking.

I should just have the AI think about the parts I don't understand, too.

I only decide the initial rules

In my method, I first decide the basic rules of the work.

Once this foundation is built, there is no need to write detailed production instructions every time.

To put it extremely,

If it's a continuation,

is how you can proceed.

You only need to make corrections through conversation with the AI as needed.

It wasn't just a method for ChatGPT

By trying it with Meta AI, Copilot, and Gemini this time, I realized one thing.

You don't have to think that 'humans must design everything before making a manga'.

There are differences in strengths and weaknesses in text and generation results depending on the AI.

Even so, the idea of leaving the manga composition itself to the AI worked with tools other than ChatGPT.

You don't have to try to make a perfect manga from the start.

First,

I tell the AI.

I look at what was created,

I reply.

If I don't understand,

I ask.

I create manga by repeating this process.

Precisely because I didn't know how to make manga, I consulted the AI about the method itself.

Even with the three AIs I tested this time, although the methods differed, the manga took shape properly.

AI manga might be something you can start much more casually than I thought.
