The days are passing by in a blur.

Although I am somehow managing to carve out time for my hobbies,

I think it is about time I took a breather.

Well, I have just been posting illustrations every day, but I thought I would pick one out and briefly share the intent behind it and some thoughts on the composition (/・ω・)/

Today's piece

This work is a piece that captures the 'emotion of the moment of touching light' just as it is.

First, what defines the impression is how the light is handled. Instead of standard highlights, granular, iridescent reflections spread across the hair, eyes, and even the space itself, making the light enter the frame as an 'entity.' That is why this character doesn't just look like they are bathed in light, but rather like they are starting to assimilate with it.

The eyes are particularly strong; while based in red, they have a way of shining as if they are finely shattered inside. This isn't just simple sparkle, but an image of emotions being broken down into light. It feels like there is both gentleness and danger present at the same time.

The composition is a close-up, diagonal gaze, capturing the moment of a so-called 'look back.' This fleeting nature is very important, as it strongly evokes a sense of coincidence, like 'I noticed them there' or 'our eyes met.'

The flow of the hair is also intentionally scattered, functioning more as a 'surface to receive light' than for the beauty of the lines themselves. Because of this, every strand of hair picks up the light, increasing the density of the entire frame.

Also, the placement of the flowers and the bokeh is exquisite; even though the foreground, midground, and background layers are clearly separated, they are all connected by the same 'particles of light.' Because of this sense of unity, it doesn't fall apart despite the high amount of information.

This work does not depict 'the moment of looking at someone,' but rather

the moment of being found by someone, in the light.I am drawing that.
