What is 'Hibiki (Byosen)' in Reiki?
When you start learning Reiki healing,
you may hear the term 'Hibiki (Byosen)'.
'My hands felt a tingling sensation'
'It felt warm'
'It felt cold'
As you can see, the way people feel it varies.
Some people worry, 'I don't feel anything, so maybe I'm not doing Reiki correctly?'
but there is no need to worry about that.
In this article, based on the concepts of traditional Japanese Reiki,
I will explain what 'Hibiki' is in an easy-to-understand way.
What is Hibiki (Byosen)?
Hibiki isthe sensation felt in the palms or body while performing Reiki healing
.
There are individual differences in how it is felt, for example:
Tingling
Throbbing
Fuzzy or hazy
Feeling warm
Feeling cold
Feeling heavy
Feeling as if the air is pushing back
Some people feel absolutely nothing at all.
There is no right or wrong answer,
and whatever that person feels is Hibiki.
The effect is the same even if you don't feel Hibiki
The most common question from those who have just started Reiki is,
'I don't feel Hibiki. Is Reiki still flowing?'
is what it is.
The answer is,of course it is flowing.
Hibiki is simply one way of "feeling" things.
The flow of Reiki and its healing effects are
separate from whether or not you feel Hibiki.
In fact, it is not rare for people who feel nothing
to experience better results than those who feel Hibiki strongly.
Therefore,
"Because I don't feel anything, it's no good"
there is absolutely no need to think that way.
A place with Hibiki does not equal a bad place
A place with Hibiki is a bad place
Some schools think this way.
However, in traditional Japanese Reiki, we do not think so simply.
There are various reasons for places where you feel Hibiki.
For example,
places where energy is flowing actively
places where the body is performing adjustments
places where there is illness
are some of the reasons you might feel Hibiki.
Therefore,
Hibiki = illness or disorder
That cannot be said.
Conversely, there are times when the body heals even without feeling any Hibiki at all.
What is important is not to judge the state of the body based on a single sensation.
It is important not to chase after Hibiki too much
As you continue practicing Reiki,
"I want to feel a stronger Hibiki"
is a sentiment often heard.
However, if you become too conscious of trying to find Hibiki,
you will drift away from your natural, relaxed state.
In traditional Japanese Reiki,
placing your hands on the body without trying to "feel" anything
is valued.
Release unnecessary tension and naturally leave it to Reiki.
That attitude is the foundation of traditional Japanese Reiki.
What is truly important is not "Hibiki," but your own way of being
The goal of traditional Japanese Reiki is not
to acquire special sensations.
The most important things are
to keep your mind calm and balanced
to cherish yourself
to be able to spend your days with peace of mind
.
Hibiki is merely one phenomenon that may appear during the process.
It is perfectly fine whether you feel it or not.
Reiki is not a special ability, but a natural power that everyone inherently possesses.
That is why, rather than being swayed by your sensations,
please continue your daily Reiki practice while valuing your own changes and inner peace.
continue your daily Reiki practice.
Summary
Hibiki (Byosen) refers to various sensations felt in the palms of the hands during Reiki healing.
However,
The effectiveness of Reiki does not change even if you do not feel Hibiki
A place where Hibiki is present is not necessarily a bad area
What is important is not the sensation, but aligning your own state of being
Please do not forget these points.
Traditional Japanese Reiki values "what kind of heart you spend your days with"
rather than "what you feel."
I hope you will incorporate Reiki into your life with peace of mind,
without being caught up in Hibiki.
