Soul Diet: A Spring Dialogue with the Goddess Maat (Part 2) - The Flow of New and Full Moons until the Summer Solstice 2026
This is
the second part of "Soul Diet: A Spring Dialogue with the Goddess Maat"...
Once, when I was
wondering what I should write on Note,
a flashy woman appeared out of nowhere
in front of me.
She wore flashy, heavy-looking Egyptian-style clothing
and heavy makeup.
Her aura was incredible...
Moreover, she claimed to be Maat, the Egyptian goddess of the underworld.
She left in the middle of our important conversation to go feed her beloved pet, Ammit,
but she appeared again before me while I was completely off-guard, and began to continue the story from last time...

From here on, please imagine
an Egyptian-style woman and an ordinary middle-aged woman
chatting in a very ordinary living room...
“Hello there!”
“Whoa! Your casualness is scary.”
“I thought I should adapt a little to the culture of the region where you live...”
“Well, thank you for that...”
“I realized something. You know how Otsuru Himan says it?”
“Oh, are you talking about the comedian Himan’s gag ‘Ma-gome’?”
“Yes, that’s it. I wonder if that’s about me?”
“‘Maat, sorry’ (Maat-gomen) abbreviated.”
“Hmm, no, that’s not it. That is... (explanation of Ma-gome).”
“I see, so it’s Marcia... well, never mind. Where were we last time?”
“You were saying you’ve never felt excited about the summer solstice...”
“And we started talking about Midsummer.”
“That’s right, that’s right! Your feeling about the summer solstice might be correct.”
“Really? I call myself a spiritualist, so is that okay?”
“The crab is the key!”
“Crab miso?”
“No. In other words, the summer solstice is the moment the sun enters Cancer.”
“I see...”
“And although Cancer is a water sign, that water is not the vast ocean, but water in a vessel—limited, protected water—symbolizing amniotic fluid, mothers, home, family, and one’s place.”
“So, even though it’s the longest day of the year and the light is strongest, it’s like a crab quietly digging its burrow...”
“Right, like a homebody party animal?”
“...” I try to imagine a homebody party animal...
“Well, anyway, it’s a milestone for establishing what you’ve been working on since the spring equinox as part of your daily life.”
“In Japan, the summer solstice is during the rainy season, so I thought it was hard to feel like ‘Yay!’, but I guess I should think of it as shining a light on the places, security, and relationships I need.”
“Exactly. For example, you’ve been running since the spring equinox, and now you receive a drink suited to who you are at that moment. It’s good to think of the summer solstice as a water station for the heart.”
“I see, a water station to hydrate the heart!”
“Then, if this were a marathon, do you think you could run through to this water station with the process you’ve had so far, ‘Otsuru Giman’ (Otsuru Deception)?”
“!”
“Well, what do you think?”
“I think it would be hard to run.”
“In which sign does the full moon on April 2nd occur?”
“Libra.”
“Speaking of the goddess of Libra?”
“Themis!”
“Hmm...”
“Themis is correct as Themis, but I’m joking. Maat, it’s you.”
“Yes! I am Maat, the goddess who commits to results.”
“Then, what should I do for a soul diet?”
“Actually, there is a very simple method.”
“Simple?”
“Yes, but it is very important.”
“Yes.”
“Then, please declare these words: I am honest with myself. And I am kind to myself.”
“I am honest with myself. And I am kind to myself... Is that all I need to do?”
“Yes, but if possible, there is one more thing I want you to do.”
“While always remembering this declaration, I want you to try to become the person who understands your own heart.”
“If you can notice, even little by little, your self-deception or guilt that you no longer need, it will naturally peel away from your soul, and Ammit will gobble it up.”
“Is that so! Ammit is surprisingly light on her feet.”
“Ammit, you see, she also has a taste for delicacies. The kind that are already fully fermented.”
“Ah, I suppose there are souls like that too.”
“But you know, while there may be sinful souls, there are also souls that have lived life to the fullest. Like those who maintained self-deception out of love.”
“Yes.”
“Heavy souls seem to be a delicacy for those with refined tastes. It’s okay, because Ammit will eat the excess, and you will become a beautiful soul again.”
“So it’s not that you punish me just because my soul is heavier than a feather.”
“Legends about retribution are distorted because people think they are more effective the scarier they are. And whether it’s light or heavy, neither is better or worse. The soul lives by taking on a body and accumulating human experiences.”
“Yes.”
“And each soul has its own stage and process. There is no superiority or inferiority there. There may be times when you want to experience a heavy soul.”
“That’s true.”
“As you feel, the Earth is a special planet. And it has a natural rhythm. If you direct your fairness toward yourself and are conscious of trying to keep your soul lighter than a feather...”
“Yes.”
“You will be able to move forward while expressing who you are, in harmony with the natural rhythm.”
“My dear Maat, thank you for teaching me! Thank you so much for everything up to this point.”
“See you again.”
“Ma-chan... lol”
After this, the Goddess Maat drifted away somewhere.
And they lived happily ever after...
Thank you for reading until the end.
This is half-fiction, but it was created through a somewhat mysterious process.
But I’ll talk about that another time.
As I started learning astrology, I realized that there is a rhythm and a flow to it.
Until now, I have posted stories woven by the new and full moons as one-offs, but I wrote this piece with the hope that it would be good to grasp things a little further ahead.
Of course, if you wish,
if you try to be more honest and kind to yourself than anyone else, as Goddess Maat’s message says,
your journey will surely become lighter within the flow of the natural rhythm from the spring equinox to the summer solstice.
And the summer solstice is a “water station” to hydrate your heart along the way.
I sincerely pray that while you appreciate yourself for having walked this far, you will be able to step into the next season at your own pace and speed.
There is also a practical version...
