Diet Ep 11: Gap-Time Stretching
Apart from the stretching I do when I set aside time,
I try to practice "gap-time stretching"
where I move a little whenever I notice I have a moment.
For example,
・While waiting for the water to boil for coffee in the morning,
I stand and twist my body from side to side while focusing on tightening my core.
・While raising one arm and holding the elbow, I stretch my side
as if trying to touch my shoulder blade.
・I practice standing on one leg, alternating sides.
・I even put on my socks while standing.
I usually listen to my favorite music while cooking,
and during that time, I also do things like pelvic rotations
that I use when walking, all in time with the rhythm.
You can do it even without walking, you know.
Sometimes, when I remember, I also do radio calisthenics.
Surprisingly, that really stretches the muscles of the whole body in a balanced way!
You can actually do quite a bit of stretching just by utilizing your daily gap time.
Especially in this season when it gets cold and our bodies tend to shrink,
I try to move a little bit when I can, without pushing myself.
I believe that even just doing that leads to building a body that is less prone to rebounding.😊
Next time, I will share a recipe for "Smooth Chawanmushi".
