What is Smile Engineering? ~Its Essence and 3 Benefits~
Hello, I am Mitsunori Kimura, an expert in Smile Engineering. If we are meeting for the first time, please be sure to check out my self-introduction!
Today, my daily posts on note have finally reached 200 days. To everyone who always supports me, thank you very much.
At this 200-day milestone, I would like to clearly explain once again what the "Smile Engineering" I advocate is, its essence, and the concrete benefits that can be gained by practicing it.
What is Smile Engineering?
"Smile Engineering" is a method that fuses "Management Engineering" and "Information and Communication Technology (ICT)" to scientifically and practically create organizations and societies where people can work with a smile.
While running an IT company in the past, I experienced the harsh reality that "organizations and businesses cannot be sustained by superior technology alone." I realized deeply how important it is to create an environment that emphasizes not only technical skills but also organizational management and humanity.
From this experience, I researched the success factors of enduring companies and organizations, and the conclusion I reached was that "there are always humans at the center of an organization, and technology is merely something that supports them."
It is "Smile Engineering" that I developed to systematize this philosophy and make it scientifically practical.
The 3 Basic Principles of "Smile Engineering"
"Smile Engineering" consists of the following three basic principles.
① Promoting "Human-Centered Management" with a scientific approach
In "Smile Engineering," we actively utilize data analysis and information and communication technology (ICT), not just intuition or gut feeling. However, the goal is not mere efficiency or cost reduction, but "people smiling."
Using the latest technology (AI, IoT, Big Data, etc.), we reduce "muri, muda, and mura" (overburden, waste, and unevenness) in the workplace and create an environment where humans can focus on more creative and satisfying work.
② Accumulating small improvements to produce great results (Kaizen thinking)
Instead of carrying out major organizational reforms all at once, we continuously accumulate small improvements (Kaizen). This "series of small success experiences" changes organizational culture positively and becomes a factor that naturally spreads smiles throughout the entire workplace.
③ The smiles of all people are the source of value creation
The smiles of employees create customer satisfaction, which leads to the sustainable growth of the organization. By having all stakeholders inside and outside the organization "smile," the organization becomes socially valuable, and as a result, corporate value and competitiveness are also enhanced.
3 Benefits brought by "Smile Engineering"
By practicing "Smile Engineering," you can specifically obtain the following three major benefits.
Benefit ① Improvement in employee satisfaction and retention rate
By introducing 'Smile Engineering,' each employee can understand their role in the workplace and engage in their work proactively. By reducing monotonous tasks through digital technology and creating an environment where employees can focus on creative and valuable work, employee motivation and satisfaction increase, and turnover rates drop significantly.
Benefit 2: Improvement in Customer Satisfaction and Repeat Rates
In an environment where employees work with smiles and enthusiasm, the quality of service provided to customers naturally improves. Furthermore, by utilizing data analysis to accurately grasp customer needs and provide more personalized services, customer satisfaction and repeat rates increase. This builds a fan base for the organization and supports sustainable business growth.
Benefit 3: Enhancement of Organizational Innovation and Social Value
A workplace environment where employees actively share ideas promotes the creation of new value and innovation. As internal and external stakeholders cooperate with smiles, it also contributes to sustainable social contribution and the achievement of the SDGs. As a result, the organization's social value and brand power are enhanced, and its competitiveness is strengthened.
To the Next Stage
Through 200 consecutive days of posting on note, I have been able to make the concept of 'Smile Engineering' known to many people. However, there are still many challenges in reaching even more people and organizations with this idea.
In the next stage, along with promoting the '1,000 Follower Plan,' I will deliver 'Smile Engineering' as even more accessible and practical information.
Moving forward, I would like to continue walking with all of you, aiming to create a society overflowing with smiles.
Thank you for your continued support.
Thank you very much for reading until the end.
