[A Small Difference That Matters] 10 Minutes of Morning Exercise
Hello. I'm mira, living in Munich, Germany.
Thank you for visiting♪
I've never been good at exercise since I was little, and if anything, I'm the type of person who prefers to lounge around at home.
While I admire people who say, "I love moving my body!", I've reached the present day without ever reaching that state of mind.
I have attended Pilates in the past, but basically, I don't really feel like exercising proactively.
Even so, it goes without saying that daily exercise is very important.
So, I decided to start with baby steps, doing what I can within my own limits.
I started by doing just five minutes of morning yoga.
It's not just that I dislike exercise; I also wanted to keep it as short as possible because I was worried about my child waking up super early in the morning and my alone time being cut short.
This is what I do.
Reliable Mariko-sensei! I often use B-Flow videos.
(I heard Mariko-sensei just gave birth to her third child♡ Congratulations!)
This yoga is short, but I feel like it's a refreshing way to start the day.
I like the part where we rotate our shoulders♪
After continuing this five-minute morning yoga for a few months, it became a habit, and I gradually started thinking, "Maybe I should do a little more" or "Maybe I should do some muscle training too," so I decided to add five minutes of muscle training as well.
Of course, I'm following Mariko-sensei! (lol)
I decided to do this video.
The lower belly bulge that just won't go away since giving birth to twins.
While I thought it might be inevitable, I chose a lower abdominal menu to at least fight it for just five minutes.
By the way, when I have time and mental space, I sometimes do this one, which is a little longer and (for me) harder.
But honestly, I almost never do this one. Maybe once a month if that.
My motto for exercise is "Never push yourself too hard" (lol)
Because of that, I have basically continued 10 minutes of morning exercise almost every day since last year.
However, during my recent temporary return to Japan, it was difficult to do these in the morning at my parents' house (the biggest reason being that there was no room or mat to do these exercises. Or maybe that was just an excuse).
And when I returned to Germany and started again, I had terrible muscle pain the next day, to the point where my body felt so sluggish I couldn't do anything...
I was quite surprised, even more than feeling pathetic.
Honestly, I had zero doubts that there was no point in such a small amount of exercise, so I was actually moved to realize how effective it really was.
Not only my lower abdomen, but my legs and arms are incredibly sore. (I think it's because there's a plank at the end.)
Kao Takezawa was talking about something similar on Voicy, which I happened to be listening to, and I strongly agreed, thinking, "Exactly!!"
The difference between 0 minutes (not doing it at all) and 10 minutes (doing even a little bit) is so huge.
Furthermore, "whether you do it every day" also makes a difference.
To do something you're not good at every day, you really have no choice but to continue little by little, to a degree that isn't a burden.
When you do that, you tend to have doubts like, "Is this even meaningful...?" but, even if it's so small that you feel anxious, it's actually producing a big effect!
Do at least a little bit. Better than zero.
This kind of mindset is fine.
For those of you who don't like exercise like me, even just 10 minutes makes a big difference.
Won't you try your best with me?
Thank you for reading until the end.
Let's meet again♪ Tschüss!
