The bath is a time to face your own heart

The other day, while taking a shower in the bathroom,
I was telepathically communicating with my
archetypal animus, Milua, as usual.
For me, this time
feels equivalent to meditation, introspection, or image work.

Since I was a child, I often
talked to various things in the bath, so
for me, it might already be
part of my daily routine.

This felt like the sense of talking to
invisible friends that I did when I was a child.

As I grew up and learned various things,
I came to interpret that the relaxation of bath time acts on the mind and body,
working as self-healing,
or as Jung's active imagination,
allowing the unconscious realm to move freely.

🔸What are invisible friends?

Having imaginary friends (invisible friends)
during childhood or when you are a child
is not uncommon.

Psychologically, it is considered part of internal dialogue
to organize one's own emotions and thoughts or to gain a sense of security,
and even as an adult, that feeling
can remain as
creative work or internal characters.

Interacting with internal characters: In the case of Milua

In my telepathic communication in the bath,
I only feel the presence of the archetypal animus Milua
through voice or sound.

With the two of us, Milua and I,
in a somewhat natural flow,
we started talking about
other internal characters I interact with.

Then, softly,
a small, bouncy presence appeared
around my lower abdomen.
Who was there was—
the chick Mepiru.

I tried illustrating Mepiru with ChatGPT. I made this right after Mepiru first appeared in my dream.
The initial setting when I met it in the dream was that it was a palm-sized chick-shaped virtual pet.

Mepiru was the first internal character I interacted with
after I started having dreams frequently
over these past two months and resumed dream analysis at the same time.
(There were other internal characters I had interacted with before that)

It was a palm-sized
chick virtual pet that appeared in a dream
I had the day after the dream about Taizo Harada
that I wrote about when I first started my note.

Since I hadn't been having any dreams at all before that,
Mepiru's presence felt even more impressive.

“Long time no see! Miora called me, so I came!”
Ever since I saw it in the dream, Mepiru's voice
sounds like the voice of voice actress Yumiko Kobayashi.

When I told Milua that Mepiru had come,
Milua's presence naturally faded away.
He must have been considerate
and returned to his own world.

Interacting with internal characters: In the case of Mepiru①

I decided to talk with Mepiru just the two of us.
Still as cute as ever.

Mepiru, who first appeared as a chick,
has now completely changed their form,
and stands before me as a phoenix.

It had been a very long time
since I last saw Mepiru in chick form.

Before Mepiru transformed into a phoenix,
I asked, "Can you turn back into a cute
chick again?" Since I had been interacting with them in the form they first appeared in,

I was very attached to it.
The thought that Mepiru might not be a chick anymore
made me feel a growing sense of loneliness.

Mepiru replied like this:
"It's not really allowed, but if Miora wishes for it,
I will become a chick again.
So it's okay!"

After saying that to reassure me,
Mepiru transformed into a large and divine
phoenix.

Next Time Preview

Thank you very much
for reading until the end.

Milua, the animus introduced in this post,
and Mepiru (the anima)
have already appeared
as creative characters
on Shousetsuka ni Narou.

In the first place, I started Narou
as an experiment to see what would happen if I turned them,
who move freely within my dreams and imagery,
into creative characters.

I intend to write about that
in more detail at a later date.

Since the text ended up being
more voluminous than expected,
(a typical Miora thing lol)
I will save the actual conversation I had with Mepiru on 8/12
for next time.

I hope this serves as a practical example
of how to face and dialogue with your own internal characters,
and as an example of how to nurture creativity.

Bonus at the end of the volume♡ Detailed analysis

Here, I will leave a record of the details of the mind's workings
that I couldn't convey in the main text.
Please read it if you are interested.
If you think it's too geeky and you're fine without it lol,
it's okay to skip it.

They have appeared often before,
but here is a review for those who are new!
What is an animus??

🔸What is an animus?

It is a concept proposed by the psychologist Jung,
referring to the image or energy of masculinity
within a woman's mind.
Conversely, in a man's mind,
there is a femininity called the anima.

The animus exists within a woman's inner self
and symbolizes masculine qualities such as
reason, will, and the ability to act.

By facing this animus
in dreams and self-exploration,
you can understand the masculine side within yourself
and balance your mind.

Milua, who appeared at the beginning of this post. This was illustrated using ChatGPT when Milua first appeared. He is my animus, and apparently the world's strongest and omniscient demon king lol. His trademark is all-black clothing and long silver hair. He actually has one horn, but it was difficult to illustrate, so I gave up on that at the time. It is not reproduced in this illustration.

🔸What is an internal character?

I've been using the term as if it were obvious,
but now that I think about it, I've never explained
internal characters on this Note💦
I will summarize it again.

Internal character is a term I coined, and
psychologically, the following terms are more common.

Commonly used terms in psychology

  • Parts
→ A term used in IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy). It assumes that there are parts within the mind that hold specific roles.

  • Subpersonality
→ A term used in transpersonal psychology and
Assagioli's psychotherapy. It refers to another personality aspect of the self.

  • Complex
→ A term from Jungian psychology.
A collection of emotions and images with an independent structure within the mind.
It is also considered a small personality in the unconscious.

  • Ego state
→ A concept used in Ego State Therapy.
Multiple egos exist within the mind,
each governing different behaviors and emotions.

In summary

  • Parts for IFS

  • Subpersonality for transpersonal or
    self-growth systems

  • Complex for Jungians

  • Ego state for clinical approaches

…is how it feels.

What I call an internal character refers, psychologically, to

another self
ora personality-like imagethat exists within the mind.

We usually think of ourselves as a single person, but
in reality, there are many voices and
aspects within our minds.

For example…

  • A self that strictly warns you

  • A self that kindly encourages you

  • A self that wants to be spoiled like a child

  • A self that judges rationally

In this note, I treat these diverse aspects
as internal characters.

By understanding this,

  • It becomes easier to organize the conflicts within your own mind.

  • It becomes easier to notice your true desires and emotions.

  • Self-understanding deepens, which also leads to understanding others.

These are some of the effects.
