The aviation industry is often thought of as a glamorous world.
But on the front lines, I felt my physical and mental limits time and time again.
Even so, I was able to keep standing for eight years without breaking.
Working in the aviation industry
had been my dream for many years.
A ground staff member working at the airport.
Ticket counters, VIP services, boarding gates,
departure and arrival operations, phone support, and data entry.
A job where I was responsible for all ground operations,
facing a part of hundreds of people's lives every single day.
From the outside,
wearing a uniform, smiling,
it is a glamorous and coveted profession.
But the reality on the ground
was more grueling than I had imagined.
Irregular shifts.
Chronic understaffing.
The tension of not being allowed a single moment of poor judgment.
Complaints, delays, and troubles.
Suppressing my emotions, keeping my smile intact,
always required to be the "face of the company."
My body and my mind were being worn down.
Even so, I kept telling myself,
"It's my dream job, after all."
To be honest,
I thought "this might be impossible" many times.
I wanted to quit, I wanted to run away,
I lost count of the nights I felt that way.
And yet,
I never went beyond my limits and broke.
That was not
because I was strong.
Nor was it because I had more patience than others.
It was because I had unconsciously
learned a "way" not to break.
What supported me in that
was yoga, breathing, and body awareness.
At first,
it was just to keep myself together.
After work,
I would stand on my mat with an exhausted body.
Take a deep breath in, and out.
Just doing that,
something that was tightly wound
loosens just a little.
Back then, I
didn't think about "getting organized"
or "growing."
I was just
desperate to be someone who could stand at the airport again tomorrow.
Looking back now,
that time was
the only place where I could regain my sense of self—.
Days spent
suppressing my emotions
and making constant decisions amidst the busyness.
In that environment,
my body, at least, was honest.
My breathing would become shallow.
My shoulders would stiffen.
My stomach would feel heavy.
Yoga
didn't let me pretend that didn't exist.
It simply told me,
"This is how you are right now."
That was when I first learned that
working hard and not breaking are two different things
.
For eight years,
I didn't just endure.
I kept myself intact.
This isn't just about willpower.
Since then,
having observed the bodies and minds of over 70,000 people as an instructor,
I am convinced of one thing.
People don't break
because they are weak.
It is the result of continuing to ignore their own senses..
The harder people try,
the more they exceed their limits.
The more responsible people are,
the more they put themselves last.
What I want to convey
is not "how to work hard."
The art of living without breaking.
In this note, I share perspectives that make life a little easier than yesterday,
drawing from my 8 years in the aviation industry,
my studies in yoga and Pilates,
and the insights I gained in the field of instruction.
I am putting into words
a perspective that makes life feel a little easier than it did yesterday.
If you are currently
hanging on by a thread
in your job or environment.
It doesn't mean you are weak.
It might just be that
you don't yet know how
to maintain yourself.
In this space,
I will not use words that force you to be positive.
Instead,
I will leave behind words to help you return to yourself.
That is what I,
who didn't break at the airport for 8 years,
want to leave behind in words now.
Work (Save for later)

English Summary
Why I Didn’t Break After 8 Years at an Airport
I worked in the aviation industry for eight years as a ground staff member.
From ticket counters to VIP services, boarding gates to customer support,
it was a dream job — but also an extremely demanding environment.
What kept me from breaking wasn’t strength or endurance.
It was learning how to maintain myself.
Yoga, breath, and body awareness helped me stay connected to my own signals
in a world that constantly demands composure and speed.
Through years of teaching and working with over 70,000 people,
I’ve learned this:
People don’t break because they’re weak.
They break because they ignore their own sensations for too long.
This space is not about pushing forward.
It’s about returning to yourself — quietly, sustainably.
