The Dawn of Symbiosis #45 Chapter 13 Section 6: A Place to Embrace Fluctuation - Serial Novel
The meeting room was bathed in the soft light of the afternoon.
The Community Liaison Division of the city office.
Here, a "small exchange meeting" is held regularly to share local issues and proposals.
Today, a group of people active in the local community—including a care worker, a shopping district board member, a childcare support worker, and a librarian—had gathered quietly.
"Aya/Yura, is it."
A young male staff member slowly spread out the printed handouts.
"While it has already begun to be used in some facilities, today I would like to hear your opinions from the perspective of how to position it institutionally."
The paper handed out read as follows:
[Community Cooperation Point System: Operational Draft]
Name: Aya/Yura
Purpose: To visualize support and contribution activities within the community and promote mutual understanding and a warm cycle.
Recording Format: Digital record (individual/anonymous)
Exchange Benefits: Extended library loan periods, discounts on public facility usage, shopping district partner services, etc.
*A certain amount of "Yura" can be exchanged for the local currency "Machi no Wa" (planned)
After a silence, the female care worker began to speak slowly.
"In care settings, family members and local residents sometimes help out. But that kind of support doesn't remain in records and is hard to reward."
She continued.
"I feel like Aya/Yura could become a mechanism to accept those 'feelings.' Not as a reward, but as a way for a 'thank you' to take shape and connect to someone."
The shopping district board member nodded.
"At the shops, there's been talk about wanting to give Yura to students who participate in local cleanup efforts."
"I think making it possible to exchange Yura for the town's currency is a good system."
"But won't this lead to disparities in evaluation, or the numbers taking on a life of their own... won't things like that happen?"
To the young childcare worker's question, the librarian answered gently.
"Perhaps it is important to accept it not as something to be 'converted,' but as something to 'feel together.'"
"Even if Aya is equivalent in value, the meaning is different for everyone. If it's a system that allows us to forgive those differences, we might be able to believe that there is a 'heart' beyond the numbers."
Silence returned to the meeting room.
However, that silence was by no means heavy,
and a space to embrace "fluctuation" had opened in each of their hearts.
A system is not meant to trap emotions.
Rather, it can be a vessel that accepts them and transforms them into light.
