"The Constitution Kingdom" is a story born from such an imagination.

The Constitution Kingdom | Part 1: Three Promises | Episode 1: A Crown for Everyone
Once upon a time.
Somewhere in the world, there was a mysterious country.
The name of that country was—
The Constitution Kingdom.
In the Constitution Kingdom, there is a castle.
There is a town square.
There is a school.
There is a marketplace.
Many people live there.
However, there was something a little different from other countries.
That is—
There is no king.
In the central square of the kingdom, there is a stone pedestal.
On top of it, a sparkling crown was placed.
It is a magnificent golden crown.
But no one wears it.
It is always left sitting there.

One morning.
A boy wearing a white cape came to the square.
His name was Ken.
He was holding a large book.
On the cover of that book,
it was written,
"Everyone's Promise."
It was Ken's daily routine to come and see the crown every morning.
Maybe someone is wearing it.
He wanted to confirm that, so he couldn't help but come.
"No one is wearing it today either."
But strangely, he didn't feel disappointed.
He heard a cheerful voice from behind.
"That's fine just the way it is!"
When he turned around, a girl with golden hair was standing there.

A small crown on his head.
His name was Shuken.
Everyone in the square
called him
the 'Guardian of the Crown'.
"Why are you here every day?"
Ken asked.
Shuken answered without taking his eyes off the crown on the pedestal.
"So that no one keeps the crown all to themselves."
"Hey, Shuken."
Ken asked.
"Why is there no king in this kingdom?"
Shuken smiled.
Do you really think there's no one?
Huh?
Then, what about that baker?
They're the person who makes bread.
What about the fishmonger?
The person who sells fish.
What about the school teacher?
They teach the children their lessons.
Shuken looked around the square.
Everyone here is someone who builds this country.
Yeah.
That's why.
Saying that, Shuken took off the small crown hair accessory.
And then, they hold it up high.
"The protagonist of this country is not just one person."
At that moment.
The crown shone.
The dazzling light rose into the sky,
and rained down upon the people in the square.
The baker.
The fishmonger.
The teacher.
The children.
The old man.
The old woman.
A small light rested upon everyone's head.

Ken's eyes went wide.
"A crown for everyone?"
"Yes."
Shuken nodded.
"The crown of this country does not belong to just one person."
"It belongs to everyone."

That was when it happened.
A loud voice echoed from across the square.
"That's too much trouble!"
A man in a black cloak appeared.
His name was Doksai.
He always had a stern look on his face.
"Deciding things together is a waste of time!"
Dokusai said.
"I should be the king!
I will decide everything!"
The square buzzed with noise.
Dokusai still could not forget a past event where he regretted being too slow to make a decision.
That is why he is always in a hurry, thinking, "I must decide quickly."
It is true that it might be faster if one person decides.
There is no need for discussion.
There are no disagreements.
Dokusai started walking toward the crown.
"From now on, obey my orders!"
Everyone in the square instinctively cleared a path.
Only the sound of Dokusai's footsteps,
clack, clack,
echoed through the square.

Just then.
The "Promise for Everyone" that Ken treasures began to glow.
The pages opened on their own.
Large letters were written there.
"The power to run this country belongs to all the people."
Ken held the book up high.
"Wait!
The crown doesn't belong to just one person!"
And then.
The small lights above the people's heads began to gather.
One.
Another one.
They are gathering more and more.
And they became a large ring of light.
Dokusai was surprised.
"W-what is this!"

Shuken said quietly.
"It is everyone's power.
Deciding alone might be faster.
But the power to decide the future of this country belongs to everyone."
The ring of light gently enveloped the square.
Dokusai closed his eyes against the brightness.
"If we keep deciding things together, we'll never be on time!"
Shouting this, Dictator ran away from the square.

Silence returned to the square.
Ken looked up at the sky.
And he smiled just a little.
"I understand.
The king of this country isn't just one person, is he?"
Shuken nodded as well.
"That's right. Everyone is the protagonist.
Everyone holds the power to move this country.
That is the first promise of the Kingdom of the Constitution."
