From the nights I lived through while crying: Why I am starting a novel on note

On a crowded train, suddenly, I couldn't stop crying.

It wasn't because someone said something to me.
It was just that my heart was broken.

This is my own story.
But, perhaps, it might have been your story too.

Until now, on this note, I have been posting about side hustles, FIRE, and time with my family.
Thankfully, more people have read my work than I ever imagined,

and now, I increasingly hear people say they 'empathized' or 'felt encouraged'.
Now, three months after starting note, I have over 2,600 followers.

But—
there is something I haven't properly touched upon.

The 'period when I couldn't work'
The 'days when I was convinced I was a burden to others'
The 'nights when I would cry for no reason'

The feeling of my heart gradually breaking while 'pretending' to live a normal life as a working adult who seems to have everything together.

Back then, I kept the days when I cried alone so no one would notice locked away in my heart.

Somehow, I grew tired of the feeling that I was posting on note while lying to myself, so I decided to write about that time.

Perhaps it is because I am finally able to face it.

Or perhaps it is because I thought, 'I want this to reach people who are carrying the same feelings.'

Since I started note, I have had more time to look at myself, and indeed, changes are happening.

This is a record of my own life living with bipolar disorder, and the story of one person who was 'acting normal' in society.

I would like to post it little by little as a series of about 15 episodes.

Although the story has already ended, I hope it will gently stand by the side of someone who is still hanging in there somewhere.

If you are,

  • carrying vague anxiety or pain,

  • unable to shed tears in front of others,

  • swallowing down suffering you can't tell anyone about,

please take a look.
