I want to write an essay like pudding, but all I bake is French bread.
This essay is a pudding.
I realize it's delicious as soon as I start reading, and I don't want it to end. I want to keep eating it forever, and it goes down so smoothly. When I see the bottom, I genuinely feel a sense of sadness.
Ah, I want seconds.
That's the kind of essay I want to write.
But what I write is surely French bread. You have to chew it over and over. It's crunchy, and if you eat it too aggressively, you'll cut the inside of your mouth. It has a great texture, but for some people, it might even make their jaw ache.
I want to write a pudding essay.
How can I write an essay that goes down so easily? The more I write, the more it turns into French bread.
What would it take for French bread to become pudding?
Should I cut the French bread into small pieces and soak it in water to soften it? And add sugar to make it sweet? But it probably wouldn't turn out jiggly. Would it just be French bread soaked in sugar water? Ugh, that sounds like it wouldn't taste good at all.
Isn't it a bit too much of a stretch for French bread to become pudding?
Ah, rather than that, I love spreading mentaiko and butter on French bread and baking it, or garlic and butter. I love eating it that way. Of course, I also love cutting a French bread diagonally and toasting it until it's crispy.
Ah, my favorite French bread.
Actually, pudding isn't even my favorite food.
Oh, I see. Maybe I'm fine with being French bread. Or rather, why was I trying to become pudding in the first place?
Well, because... pudding feels like everyone's favorite, while French bread is something people either really love or have mixed feelings about.
Maybe I should start accepting myself for loving French bread so much.
I admire writing that is loved by everyone like pudding, but what comes out of me is, after all, writing like French bread.
But maybe I can write something that people will chew on over and over. Even if it's crunchy, a bit hard, and might occasionally cut the inside of your mouth.
I want to write pieces that have more flavor the more you chew them. While munching on French bread, that's what I thought. Today's French bread is, as expected, absolutely delicious.
