The Story of How I Asked an AI to Transform a Slime and a Magical Girl Was Born | Pollo AI | Video Generation AI | PolloAIxShironen Contest | #377
First, I want you to take a look at this.
Created Video: Failed Version
……Did you see it?
A blue slime picks up a weapon on the beach.
So far, so good.
The problem is what happens after that.
For some reason, a moon-like staff appears.
Pinkish effects appear.
A ribbon-like atmosphere emerges.
It feels like a magical girl transformation.
And in the end, a slime holding a staff against the backdrop of a full moon was born.
What I wanted to create was,
a blue slime that picks up a weapon on the beach and transforms into knight-style armor.
But what came out was, no matter how you look at it, a slime that awakened as a lunar warrior.
It was supposed to become the King of the Sea, but
it became a Lunar Warrior instead.
Why on earth?
I participated in the Nenkoro & Shirono project.
This is what I participated in.

The category is,Art & Expression Category.
This time, I tried my hand at video generation using PolloAI's Seedance.
I usually write articles on note about things like AI image generation, prompts, and HTML tools—basically, 'playing with generative AI' stuff.
Roughly speaking, I am the type who
fiddles with image generation by extending prompts.
Thankfully, sometimes people tell me, 'Your prompts are amazing'.
Thank you.
But you know.
This time, I decided to try my hand at video generation as well.
This is what I wanted to make.
A short video where a blue slime picks up a weapon on the beach and
coolly transforms into knight-style armor.
……Or so it was supposed to be.
I had a proper concept.
The theme this time was,
A slime picks up a weapon and transforms into knight-style armor
or something like that.
A blue slime on the beach.
A trident lying at the water's edge.
The moment it picks it up, light effects flash.
And then, it transforms into blue and white knight-style armor.
Yeah.
It sounds pretty cool, right?
I thought "transformation" would go well with the art and expression category.
The storyboard looks like this.

At this point, I had a sea knight slime completely in my head.
Waves.
Moonlight.
A trident.
Blue and white armor.
A mystical transformation sequence.
This is going to work.
That's what I thought.
I pressed the generate button.
I was convinced.
I wrote the prompt.
I have the storyboard.
The direction is clear.
In other words, this is a win.
All that's left is to press the generate button.
And this is what came out.
...Did you see that?
It starts off fine.
There's a slime on the beach.
The night sea.
Moonlight.
There's something that looks like a weapon.
Up to this point, it's pretty much correct.
The problem is what happens after.
Suddenly,
pinkish effects appear.
A moon-like staff appears.
A ribbon-like atmosphere emerges.
For some reason, it starts heading in the direction of a magical girl transformation.
No, wait a minute.
I summoned a knight of the sea.
Yet what came out was,
a slime that has clearly awakened as a warrior of the moon.
And the final cut, too.
With the full moon at its back,
the slime holds up its staff.
The pose is set.
The direction is cool.
As a piece of footage, it's not bad.
But that's not it.
What I summoned was the King of the Sea.
What came out was a Warrior of the Moon.
Why did it turn out like that?
The cause, I think, is probably the words I put into the prompt.
This time, I wanted to include a transformation sequence, so I used these elements.
transform
magic wand
moon
From a human perspective,
“transforming”
“magical-looking effects”
“seaside by moonlight”
was about what I intended.
But from the AI's perspective, this combination might have been pulled toward another strong image.
Of course, I can't check Seedance's internal processing or training data.
So I can't say for sure.
But looking at the video that came out, it was very easy to understand from my experience.
Words have gravitational pull.
Even though I intended to specify a “fantastical transformation,”
on the AI side, the words “transform,” “moon,” and “magic wand”
can sometimes summon a very strong visual context in a different direction.
I realized that a prompt is not just a command,
but also a switch for associations.
I had underestimated this.
Corrected
So, I corrected the prompt.
First, I strengthened the direction I wanted to go.
Knight armor
Blue and white
Prince style
Medieval warrior
Blue and white.
Knight.
Prince style.
Medieval warrior.
Go this way, I said.
Furthermore, I clarified the direction I did not want to go.
Not magical girl
Not sailor
Not pink
Not ribbon
Don't go that way, I said.
In short, what I did this time is simple.
I wrote not only 'what I want it to be,'
but also 'what I don't want it to be.'
Positive prompts determine the direction.
Negative prompts prevent derailment.
If you don't do this properly, the slime will go to the moon.
And this is what I regenerated.
The presence of the moon hasn't completely disappeared.
But it has gotten much closer to a blue and white knight-style armor.
At the very least, compared to the first "Moon Warrior Slime",
it has returned much closer to the original concept.
The slime's dignity has been restored.
My dignity has also been restored, just a little bit.
What I learned this time
This is the biggest thing I learned this time.
Adding to the prompt is not enough.
Writing "what you want to output" is important.
This is crucial.
But sometimes, that alone is not enough.
Writing "what you don't want to output" is also just as important.
I realized this was just as vital.
Video generation AI, in particular, follows context more than still images.
Once the direction of the production is decided,
it keeps running with it for several seconds.
That is why the initial choice of words becomes quite important.
Positive prompts are the accelerator.
Negative prompts are the guardrails.
If you only press the accelerator,
the slime goes to the moon.
It became an article because I failed
Honestly, if it had succeeded normally from the start,
I probably wouldn't have written an article about it.
"Oh, it turned out nicely"
might have been where it ended.
But, I failed.
And it wasn't just any failure.
A slime that was supposed to become the king of the sea became a warrior of the moon.
I just had to write about this.
Video generation AI is fun when it succeeds.
But it's also fun when it fails.
In fact, when it fails,
you get to see the AI's quirks, the structure of the prompts, and the gravitational pull of the words.
This slime taught me exactly that.
Summary
This time, I intended to turn a blue slime into a sea knight.
But in the first generation, it brilliantly became a moon warrior.
Thanks to that,
I was able to learn about the gravitational pull of keywords in video generation AI and the importance of negative prompts.
Thank you, moon warrior slime.
Thank you, Nenkoro-san & Shironoaru-san.
Thank you, PolloAIxShironen Contest.
I feel like I managed to salvage both the slime's dignity and my own at the same time.
Video generation AI still has plenty of room to play with.
Wait? Did I meet the entry requirements...?
Well then, see you later.
