The Structured Process of “Becoming Myself” (Revisited)

September 9, 2025.
I wrote an article called “The Process of Becoming Myself — Structured.
At the time, I was trying to put into words what self-alignment actually felt like.
When we’re not aligned with ourselves, I think other people’s perceptions of us play a significant role. “I don’t want to cause trouble for others.” “I have to meet everyone’s expectations.” Layer by layer, we drift further from who we really are.
That’s what I tried to capture through Nako and Anna — two characters in the Emology series, each struggling with a version of themselves reflected only in other people’s eyes.
From dependency on others’ mirrors, toward self-alignment. If their journeys meant something to you, I’m truly glad.

So — what was self-alignment, after all?

On September 23, 2025, I defined self-alignment as “the core of a human being, still growing.”
Half a year after that felt sense of alignment — at the time, I was honestly surprised by how quiet my inner world had become. But now I’ve grown accustomed to that stillness, and I find myself living with a quiet steadiness.
Where I used to be rattled by a single comment, I can now simply receive it: “So that’s how they see it.” If it doesn’t resonate, that’s fine. If it strikes me as something good, I take it in. And when I find something I believe in, I share it freely.
In doing so, my relationships began to move with a smoothness I hadn’t expected.
It’s different from self-understanding.
It’s different from self-acceptance.
It was the feeling of being able to trust myself.
And on that foundation of self-trust, the ability to trust others began to grow — that, for me, was self-alignment.
Going forward, I’ll be moving my writing to Substack, where I plan to share the framework I’ve been building. Thank you for following along on note these past six months.
