The Panda's Choice Award [Haiku]
Hello, this is Panda Gorogoro.
It's a bit late, but I am announcing the Panda's Choice Award [Haiku].
It is divided into four categories, with three haiku selected for each.
Let's get started right away.
[The 'I Felt Dizzy from the Sensuality' Award]
Harvest moon, alone at a back-alley shot bar (Tuda)
*It seems the image is of someone drinking bourbon alone while ignoring the harvest moon, but no, no, surely they are meeting someone after this?
They must be waiting for someone they want to admire (and touch) who is even more beautiful than the harvest moon.
It is a haiku overflowing with sensuality that just won't stop my delusions.
Walking quickly toward the rendezvous, evening moon (Hajime Nakaoka)
*The explanation of the 'rendezvous' was just as it is, and it was amazing.
Passion is something that doesn't stop and just comes crashing in.
If I were asked to choose a haiku from this Izayoi Cup that"I was simply captivated by", this haiku would be
the undisputed first-place winner. It is an overwhelming haiku.
Trailing behind, the lingering scent and a shooting star (Hisui)
*"A trailing star" is fine. It's a "shooting star (comet?)", right?
But what is this"lingering scent trailing behind"⁉
It's outrageous, it's just too sexy, and it made me, Panda, feel dizzy.
A haiku that made me groan, 'As expected of Hisui-chan.'
[The 'Beautiful Scenery' Award]
The city shining like platinum under the sixteen-night moon
( k_maru027 )
*It made me think of a glittering city.
"Sixteen-night moon" and "platinum" are a perfect combination that"shines" beautifully.
A haiku that stimulates the beauty of vision from the words themselves.
The rising moon, though blurred by clouds, is still brilliant (Kuya.)
*The moon, which hasn't quite become a full moon yet, is shining brightly.
Even though it's covered by clouds, it doesn't matter at all.
A work that captures the beauty and brilliance of the moonlight, and even the freshness of the moon before it is full.
Is it amber swaying at the bottom of the water, or fallen leaves? (Chizu)
*In a word, it is simply beautiful.
Once you imagine the scene, you can't take your eyes off it.
The beauty of the "amber" swaying at the bottom of the clear water with its hazy outline.
A work I want to cut out, paint, and gaze at forever.
[The 'Beautiful Sentiment' Award]
Unable to say a word, the sixteenth-night moon grows hazy (deko)
*I wonder who it was that the author wanted to say that one word to.
Perhaps they could have said it if their feelings were at their peak.
But now, the climax has passed, daily life is coming back into view, and their feelings are beginning to regain their composure...
It stirred up such imagination in me.
A feast of the moon with a friend who speaks the unspeakable (Kacchi/Yukinko)
*Perhaps this friend didn't speak with words at all.
Sometimes, just by looking at each other, you can understand each other better than if you had used ten thousand words.
A haiku that makes me feel envy and longing for an author who has such a friend.
Illuminated autumn leaves reaching a bowed heart (Kotatsubuton)
*The beauty of the autumn leaves gently heals a tired heart...
Such a scene came to my mind.
I want to fly there right now and give them a hug.
It is a haiku that makes me feel that way.
[The 'Speaking of Autumn, It's Food' Award]
Woodpecker, beans, rice crackers, and a galette (Noriko Tonomura)
*When I heard "beans, rice crackers, and a galette", I thought it was such an attractive combination that I couldn't imagine any other.
It actually sounds delicious to eat them together!
A cucumber forgotten in the corner of the rice bran (Koredemo Haha)
*I kept wondering if this cucumber was still okay to eat.
Oh, I want to try eating this cucumber.
Because, just because, it looks delicious!
Drinking milk tea on the balcony on a star-filled night (Choko)
*This is a haiku that makes me think the person must have been drinking royal milk tea on the balcony.
On a slightly chilly balcony, I wonder what the author was thinking while looking at the stars.
I'm curious if it was about the past or the future.
That concludes the 12 haiku across 4 categories.
I send my heartfelt applause and cheers to these wonderful 12 haiku!
Thank you very much.
(Titles omitted)
(The order of each haiku is based on the numbering in the 'Izayoi Cup Haiku List')
