A morning where clouds are gradually spreading across the clear sky, and air still holding the lingering heat of summer drifts in through the window.

I went about my morning preparations wondering how the children were doing, one night after introducing our pocket money point system.

The declaration to wake up at 5 AMthat my eldest daughter had made.
She fought off sleepiness and woke up at 6 AM with a frustrated look on her face.

Taking out the trash, watering the garden trees, sweeping the entryway.
She was desperately tackling the small chores she usually just watches me do.

It was a morning no different from any other, yet slightly different. For the children, it might have been a surprisingly special morning.

The world reflected in children's play

When my eldest daughter came home from school, she happily told me about her art class today.

It seems they started a project themed around "Mochi Mochi no Ki" (The Sticky Tree).

What kind of tree she imagined, what colors or shapes she used—that's a secret. But her expression conveyed a sense of satisfaction.

Thinking of her drawing while letting her imagination run wild, I feel that the time spent imagining itself enriches her heart more than the completion of the work.

My second daughter apparently spent her time at nursery school picking tree nuts, crushing them, and making colored water to play with.

“It was so fun, and we all laughed sooooo much!”Her face as she told me seemed to still hold the joy from that moment.

The moment of sharing small discoveries might be the greatest treasure for children.

Things we tend to forget as adults

As adults, we tend to focus on "results" and "completion."
But I am reminded once again that children aremasters of enjoying the process itself.What matters is the process of creating, the moments of discovery, and being able to laugh together with someone.

Rather than finishing a project, there is richness in laughing when spilling colored water or talking about what we imagine.

As a parent, I often want to say, "Make sure you finish it properly," but children have their own rhythm in their world. Watching over them while staying close to that rhythm is a learning experience for me as well.

The point system I introduced yesterday is also one of many new discoveries and challenges for the children. I want to chime in, but I want to watch over them while staying by their side.

Engraving laughter into our hearts

In life, there aren't that many major events.

But the memory of a day where“we all laughed together”will definitely remain in the family's hearts.
