Recently,

I dried the flowers of the chaste tree (vitex) in my garden

and made tea with them.

Previously,

I had made tea from the new leaves,

so I thought,

"It will surely taste similar."

That is what I had assumed.

However,

I was surprised when I drank it.

It was as if

it were a completely different plant.

The leaves and flowers are like different people

The leaf tea was,

somewhat green and fresh,

A refreshing scent.

I feel a plant-like strength.

However,

the flower tea was different.

The moment I poured the hot water,

it spread softly,

a gentle floral scent.

"Wow, what a lovely scent."

My face lit up involuntarily.

But,

the moment I took a sip,

I was surprised again.

It is floral, yet spicy.

The scent,

is very gentle.

But,

at the back of my throat,

a slight, tingling aftertaste remains.

It is not spicy hot.

It is not bitter either.

However,

it certainly has a presence.

In that moment,

something suddenly came to mind.

Like cinnamon

Of course,

it is not the scent itself.

But,

somewhat like cinnamon,

a faintly spicy lingering note.

"It's a flower tea, yet it's mysterious."

Thinking that,

I ended up drinking it again and again.

Plants are,

truly fascinating.

Different personalities, even from the same tree

Leaves and flowers.

Even though they were born from the same tree,

the scent,

and the taste,

They were completely different.

That is why I

am so glad I dried the leaves and flowers separately.

If I had done them together,

I probably wouldn't have noticed this difference.

Precisely because they are different,

each had its own charm.

might be the same way.

Even in the same family.

Everyone is different.

as each has a different role.
