58. Deciding what kind of people to hire
When hiring is not going well, many small and medium-sized enterprises think that
any person who applies will do.
However, when you apply for a job,
would you go to a company that hires just anyone?
You wouldn't want to go to a company that would take just anyone, would you?
So, how should you go about hiring?
Making a science out of that is also part of the hiring process.
Even if you have an intuitive sense of what kind of people
are successful at your company,
I think there are few companies that have broken it down into elements
to establish hiring criteria.
By clarifying what type of people are successful
through aptitude tests,
and deciding scientifically rather than based on intuition,
you can hire people who are a good fit for your company.
If you hire people who can truly succeed in that way,
they will come to feel that they want to succeed at this company and will stay.
