Why You Can't Stop Eating Sweets
When you want to eat sweets, it's usually when you are tired or feeling frustrated. Both are times when your body or mind is severely depleted.
However,
the sweets your body craves
are not the sweetness of sugar.
It is craving what provides energy to the body. It is seeking the natural sweetness found in sugars, minerals, and vitamins.
In Yakuzen (medicinal cooking), there is a concept called the Five Flavors, which classifies the taste of all ingredients into five categories: sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, and salty.
Sweet flavors include tubers like potatoes, sweet potatoes, mountain yams, and taro. Legumes like soybeans and black beans. Nuts. Chestnuts, pumpkin, carrots, and white rice. Squid, shrimp, and beef are also considered sweet flavors.
The more you chew, the more you feel the sweetness, so chew slowly and savor the taste.
When you feel like eating sweets, try eating a bite-sized rice ball for now. It is also a good idea to keep nuts, steamed sweet potatoes, or pumpkin on hand as snacks.
By doing this, your body will be satisfied and stop craving sweets, so please give it a try.
Sugar becomes sticky when it contains moisture, so the stomach is not good at digesting it. It remains in the body undigested and accumulates as something called 'dampness'.
When dampness accumulates, it affects not only your body but also your mind. Feelings of anxiety, frustration, and depression. Lack of motivation.
The effects of sugar are not just about gaining weight. Try to refrain from consuming too much.
It is a season where both the climate and atmospheric pressure are unstable. Fatigue is also building up due to stress from temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, when April arrives, life changes due to shifts in school or the workplace.
Let's store up energy with sweet-flavored ingredients and start our new life with a healthy body and mind.
