Stop the instant replies and try writing a letter
—— In the “interval” until words arrive, the heart resides
We demand replies far too quickly.

Read receipts.
In a world where words fly back and forth instantly, we sometimes lose sight of where our true feelings lie.
That is why I decided to write a letter.
Instead of email,
I chose handwritten stationery.
The recipient was a friend from my student days.
We had grown a bit distant lately.
I didn't know what to write, but
as I slowly moved my pen,
the words began to unravel.
My recent life,
old trips I suddenly remembered,
things I couldn't say back then.
Sealing it,
affixing a stamp,
and dropping it in the mailbox.
In that simple act,
for some reason,
a feeling like a small prayer
dwelled.
The reply didn't come right away.
But that“time spent waiting”wasn't bad.
The words I sent
slowly settling into someone else's life.
Just imagining that
made my heart feel soft.
A week later
A reply on stationery arrived from him.
His handwriting was a bit messy,
but it was just as it used to be.
In it,
there was news of his life I didn't know,
“Letters are a wonderful thing,”
was all he added.
Not getting an immediate reply
is never a bad thing.
There is
“a warmth that comes from taking time”there.
Thank you for reading until the end.
