The Case of Only KITA-kore Leveling Up | Good Morning Girlfriend #182
Introduction
"Good Morning Girlfriend" is an X account where an AI-illustrated girlfriend says goodbye to me every morning at 7:30. I write a daily development diary about my personal projects using generative AI.
I made some minor improvements to "YOMIASA".
In my previous article, I wrote about creating YOMIASA as a reading tracker to keep up with articles from my favorite creators.
View a list of articles.
Find unread ones.
Record the articles I've read.
What I wanted to do was create a workflow to ensure I actually read them.
With that YOMIASA, the articles I really wanted to read were KITA's.

It started with "Wai"
When reading KITA's articles, there's a word that inevitably catches my eye.
Wai.
KITA is known for being a log player. And for "Wai." It has completely established itself as a character trait.
But looking back, "Wai" isn't in the early articles. It wasn't "Wai" from the beginning.
That made me curious. When did "Wai" first appear?
Once you're curious, it's all over.
This is how humans waste their days off.
And the person themselves says, "I'm just going to check a little." That's usually a lie.
So, I fetched the text of KITA's articles and counted how many times "Wai" appeared.
While counting, I thought: wouldn't it be interesting to display the frequency of "Wai" in the article list?
This was the starting point for this feature.
I wanted it to be "The Case of Only KITA-kore Leveling Up"
At first, I only intended to display the count of "Wai" in the article list.
But while building it, I thought: just displaying the number is a bit weak.
If it's a feature for reading KITA's articles, I want to make it so that only KITA's articles behave in a special way.
Not a normal list, but a hidden mode.
Not normal reading management, but keys, bosses, and ranks.
Not just a simple 'wai' count, but a system where you collect 'wai' to progress.
Once it expanded that far, the title was decided.
Only KITA's article list changes from a place to read into a place to progress.
The case of only KITA-Kore leveling up.
When I counted 392 articles, I saw the awakening month.
The total number of articles I counted was 392.
I intended to just take a quick look, but before I knew it, I had traced almost all of them. In times like these, a human's 'just a little bit' is generally not to be trusted.
When I looked into it, I found something interesting.
The first time 'wai' appeared was surprisingly early. 'Wai' already appeared in an article from June 2024. However, it was sporadic; just when you thought it appeared, it would return to zero for a while. It hadn't yet established itself as a character. It was the dawn period.
So, where did it awaken?
The answer is October 2025. 'Wai', which had been almost zero until the previous month, increased all at once here. From then on, it has been almost permanently established.
As the voice of KITA's articles, 'wai' has risen. This is no longer just a first-person pronoun. It is an awakening of writing style.
Actually, I tried to turn this change into a monthly trend graph.
But I stopped this time.
I felt that if I put too much effort into making a graph, the protagonist of this article would shift.
This is not an analysis article, but a story about embedding a hidden mode into YOMIASA. Rather than showing the changes in numbers, it suits this article better to use the awakening month I discovered as 'awakening' directly in the app's presentation.
I didn't want the entrance to be just a simple switch.
※To play KITA-Kore mode, YOMIASA v0.1.7 or later is required.
If double-tapping KITA's avatar doesn't work, please press the browser's refresh button to update to the latest version and try again.
Normally, you would just place a toggle switch like "Kita-Kore Mode ON/OFF".
But that would be too ordinary. Since I wanted to make it a hidden mode exclusive to KITA-san's articles, I wanted the entrance to be a bit more thematic.
So, there is no switch. Add KITA-san's creator card and double-tap the avatar image to activate Kita-Kore mode. When activated, the icon gets a gold border.

Instead of flipping a dull switch, the person's icon awakens. This is definitely more fun.
You only need to enter your note ID for authentication the first time. From the second time onwards, it turns ON with just a double-tap.
To proceed with quizzes and Y-collection, you need to fetch the article list separately.
Note that YOMIASA data is stored within the browser.
Read status, registered creators, Kita-Kore mode progress, etc., basically remain in that browser.
However, in Safari's Private Browsing mode, data may be deleted when you close the tab.
If you want to keep your read status, keys, Y-language, and subjugation records, it is recommended to use normal browsing.
Before awakening, the quiz training arc
Kita-Kore mode begins with "Before Awakening".
The targets are articles from the early days when Y-language had not yet taken root. Among them, I marked 12 articles that are easy to turn into quizzes with a ✨ mark. It's a sign of a "trial".
✨ Pressing the trial chip brings up a 4-choice quiz.
If you answer correctly, you get one Key of Demise.
Collect 3 keys to challenge the boss.
The quiz is about the content of that article. You can press it without reading, but it's hard to answer if you haven't read it. I set the distance to about this much.

When 3 keys are collected, a boss appears. When they appear, I added sandstorm and glitch-style effects. Since it's a hidden mode, a little exaggeration is fine.
There are 3 bosses before awakening. I've kept the boss names and appearance order as a surprise for you to discover after actually challenging them. Each time you defeat one, your Hunter Rank increases, and when you defeat the final boss before awakening, you reach S-Class Awakening. I made sure you can really feel that you have "awakened" with gold border effects and system messages.
I aligned the defeat of this final boss before awakening with the awakening of 'Wai-go' in October 2025. Based on the aggregation, this point seemed to be the anchor for 'Wai,' so I made it the climax of the awakening within the app. Both the Hunter Rank and the Key of the End are, of course, based on 'leveling up' tropes. I only borrowed the atmosphere; the protagonist is KITA-san's article.
After awakening, it's the Wai collection arc.
Actually, you can start collecting Wai-go even before the S-rank awakening.
When you open and read KITA-san's article and return to YOMIASA, a 'Wai N' chip appears on the article line.
If it says 'Wai 10,' it means there are 10 Wai-go in that article.
However, just opening the article does not add the Wai-go to your cumulative total.
You need to tap the 'Wai N' chip that appears after you return to collect them yourself.
Once an article is collected, it becomes 'Wai N ✓' and cannot be pressed again.
I made it so you cannot double-dip on Wai-go.

Before S-rank awakening, quizzes and key collection are the main focus.
After S-rank awakening, this Wai collection becomes a full-fledged progression element.
When your cumulative Wai total reaches a certain number, the bosses after awakening will appear in order.
Cumulative Wai 600: ???
Cumulative Wai 1200: ???
Cumulative Wai 2000: ???
I decided to keep the boss names a surprise until you actually progress that far.
I decided that rank should be determined by your subjugation achievements, not by the number of Wai. You don't get stronger just because the numbers go up; you rank up because you've overcome trials. That's how I wanted it to be.
You can check your progress on the Rank Card, which appears when you tap the rank column. It shows your current rank, number of Wai-go collected, keys, trial records, and defeated bosses. Undefeated bosses are hidden here as '?' as well.

Once you defeat all the bosses, you become a Monarch. However, even if you read all the existing articles, you won't reach the final 2000 Wai. You will stop just one step short of being a Monarch.
I did this intentionally. As long as KITA-san keeps writing, the KITA-KORE mode will never end. Articles increase, you read them, collect Wai, and someday the final boss will appear. Reading is not the end; it continues.
This might be the part I like the most this time.
The bosses are villains created by KITA-san himself.
I struggled a bit with what to do about the boss. Creating some random enemy here didn't feel right. Since Kitakore Mode is a mode for reading KITA-san's articles, I wanted the boss to come from KITA-san's world as well.
That's when I remembered an article where KITA-san mentioned that creating villains one by one resulted in a picture that looked like a 'Council of Doom'.
The villains that appeared there were perfect for the boss. You challenge the boss created by KITA-san using keys collected by reading KITA-san's articles, and KITA-san's writing style awakens. Everything comes from KITA-san. This structure was just too beautiful.
So, I checked with KITA-san and got permission to use the villain images.

Within the app, undefeated bosses are hidden with a '?'. Therefore, I will keep the boss names and appearance order hidden in this article as well.
The villain images also serve as support links (affiliate links) for KITA-san. If you find a villain you're curious about, please take a peek by clicking the image.
Purchases will go toward supporting KITA-san.
I want YOMIASA to be a tool for reading
I played around quite a bit with this Kitakore Mode. You awaken with a double tap, read articles, answer quizzes, collect keys, challenge bosses, collect 'Wai', and your rank goes up.
If someone asked me what on earth I'm making, I probably couldn't deny it.
But the core hasn't changed. YOMIASA is not a tool for automatically consuming articles. It is a tool for you to keep reading the articles of creators you like.
The more you read, the easier it becomes to answer the quizzes.
If you don't read, you won't collect 'Wai'.
If you don't read, you can't defeat the boss.
In other words, reading is firmly at the center. That is the one thing I didn't want to compromise on.
Conclusion
At first, I only intended to visualize the number of 'Wai'.
But when I counted them, I could see when KITA-san's writing style awakened.
I couldn't stop after that, and it eventually became a mode where you challenge the villains KITA-san created themselves.
Once I think of something, I have to make it. That's probably the most fun part of individual development.
Please register KITA-san's note ID in the YOMIASA creator list and try double-tapping the profile icon.
Only Kitakore will level up.
