The city viewed through a glass. [Three-Topic Story]

Every weekend, from Friday to Sunday,open only three days a week, there is a hidden gem of a restaurant known only to those in the know. It is a bistro famous for its carefully crafted menu by the owner-chef and its selection of fine alcoholic beverages.

The restaurant, converted from an old private house, is located in a corner of a residential area. Tucked away from the busy main road and blending into the atmosphere of the neighborhood, even its wooden standing sign features handwritten letters. The shop truly blends into the scenery, making it difficult for first-timers to find.

"Sorry, I had to ask for your help on such short notice. I appreciate it."

While taking ingredients out of a large cooler box, the owner thanked me. His hands, moving busily along with his mouth, lined up the ingredients for today's menu on the prep table one after another. Finally, anice packwas taken out of the box.

"This place is also in the valley of the buildings... that's exactly why I like it. This downtown area, that atmosphere."

The owner muttered while looking at me. I peered into the glass I had lifted to drink water and looked at the city of buildings through it. The most prominent one is atower mansion.

"I like it too, owner. I wouldn't want to live in a high-rise apartment like that, as it feels like joining the crowd that says 'descending to the lower world'."

I wouldn't say there isn't a drop of sour grapes in that, but there is more to it than that. Both the owner and I love the residents of this town, and we want to provide them with delicious food and drinks.

I am a chef under contract with a certain restaurant. The contract period ends in the summer. After that, there will be one more chef at this bistro.

"I'm already looking forward to autumn. Take care of your health, too."
