[Synopsis] Cinderella married the prince and lived happily ever after. However, life begins the day after the 'happily ever after.' She cannot sleep in the finest bedding, she feels tense during royal meals, and she harbors frustrations she cannot even tell her kind prince. Cheap blankets, kitchen leftovers, the laundry room, glass slippers, pumpkin peels, communication stones. Cinderella, now a queen, gradually carves out her own place within the royal palace. And in the end, she chooses a black dress. It was not because things had turned dark, but because she stopped showing only the beautiful parts. This is a story of two people living the continuation of a fairy tale, repeatedly recreating their own 'happily ever after.'
The moment the ballroom doors opened, the air in the hall paused for just a second. It was because Cinderella, now the queen, had appeared wearing a black dress.
Black.
However, it was not just any black.
Every time it caught the light of the candelabra, a pale silver-gray shimmered deep within the fabric. It was less like the black of night, and more like a black that held ash.
Someone whispered softly.
"The Queen is wearing... black?"
"I wonder if something happened."
Cinderella noticed the voices. She pretended not to notice and straightened her back.
A young lady holding a rose-colored fan approached her.
"Your Majesty. The Prince is truly a kind man, isn't he?"
The voice was sweet. But there was a thin needle hidden behind the sugar.
Cinderella looked at the Prince just once. The Prince said nothing, but gave a slight nod.
So, Cinderella smiled and replied.
"He is kind."
And then, she added a little more.
"But he is bad at sharing his schedule."
For an instant, the sound of the fan stopped.
From deep within that silence, a soft laugh could be heard.
"Oh my."
From beyond the crowd, Lady Magnolia appeared.
"My husband is the same way."
With those words, the tense atmosphere loosened just a little. For the first time, Cinderella felt like she could breathe in high society. This is a story about Cinderella gradually learning to be honest with herself in order to live out the 'happily ever after' that follows.
And it is a story about her and the Prince recreating their 'happily ever after' time and time again.
