You cannot escape death and taxes.
As I wrote in this article before,
I personally imported four copies of "Dragon's Rage Channeler".
The total was about 28,000 yen.
In the case of personal imports, 60% of the purchase price is subject to taxation, and if that amount exceeds 10,000 yen, customs duties are applied.
Given the conditions this time, there is no way customs duties shouldn't have been incurred.
Based on my experience so far, when customs duties were applied, the process was to pay the delivery person on the spot to receive the package.
However, this time, I was able to receive the package normally without being told anything.
“It should have incurred customs duties, so why? Well, whatever. Lucky me.”
That's what I thought, but—
Yesterday, a mysterious envelope arrived from FedEx.
When I opened it, it was an invoice saying, "Please pay the taxes (customs duty, consumption tax, local tax) within 7 days."
It seems that recently, the style is for FedEx to pay the customs duties on your behalf and bill you later.
Honestly, I am grateful that I don't have to have cash ready on the spot.
……That said.
As expected, you cannot escape death and taxes.
It was an event that made me realize that all over again.
