However, this time, I was able to receive the package normally without being told anything.

Yesterday, a mysterious envelope arrived from FedEx.
When I opened it, it was an invoice saying, "Please pay the taxes (customs duty, consumption tax, local tax) within 7 days."

It seems that recently, the style is for FedEx to pay the customs duties on your behalf and bill you later.
Honestly, I am grateful that I don't have to have cash ready on the spot.
