The Etiquette of Sarcasm
Writing a sarcastic essay is difficult.Difficulty Level A.
To think about the reason for that, I need to consider why you would read this article. This is sudden, but
thank you for clicking on this article!
Really, truly, thank you!
I must live up to your expectations.
You must have clicked it thinking you would read something generally interesting. You might even imagine
a situation where you are sitting next to me at a drinking party.
I, of course, want to talk about something fun, but
conversely, what kind of talk is not fun at all?
Bragging?
Bragging is certainly one of them, but the most unbearable thing to listen to isgossip about others that you cannot empathize with.
It happened when I was invited out for drinks by someone from my previous workplace. That person kept badmouthing our colleagues. I didn't dislike those people who were my coworkers.
I couldn't empathize at all, but I didn't feel like arguing either, so the time spent just responding vaguely wasnothing but painful. It goes without saying that I decided never to go drinking with them again.
Everyone at the workplace was a good person. And yet, sometimes the workplacesurprisinglybecomes toxic!
There is a higher level of pain.
Gossip about people you don't know!
My in-laws were people who only talked about relatives I didn't know. In particular, they kept badmouthing one person, butI don't know that person!
It was a time when I felt like I had wandered into hell.
A truth becomes visible here.
Unless it is a shared enemy, gossip about others is unbearable to listen to.
On the other hand, there are cases where gossip about others is somewhatlistenable.
Humor. When told with humor, depending on the balance, it can function as entertainment.
I think what people generally call "sarcasm" refers to this kind of territory. If you want people to listen to your insults, you need to mobilize all your intelligence.
It's not just about the drinking party I mentioned earlier, but spewing insults without considering the recipient is a breach of etiquette in a setting where everyone has decided to enjoy themselves.
Humor is important not just because it's funny, but because it conveys that there is still a little bit of love left for the subject.
It is also proof that the person making the insults still has some composure.
I had an old friend who only ever spoke ill of others, but as long as they still had a sense of humor, I could still hang out with them.
However, their mental state must have deteriorated somewhere along the line, and from a certain point on, the humor vanished entirely. I had no choice but to cut ties. Their presence was nothing more than a darkness that erodes the emotions of others.
So, it is difficult to entertain people with sarcasm. It's a fine line.
My own work has a bit of a bite to it, but my recent piece was finished entirely as a sarcastic essay.
3rd Place: "Why don't you just finish your work early and go play early?"
"Words from a boss that stay with you" as the 3rd place entry, I poked fun at the words of a former power-harassing boss
Whether this is accepted depends on my own ability. I think it will probably be fine.
That is because I don't hold any grudge at all against the power-harassing manager in the story now.
Thank you for giving me material.
Thank you for pushing me to the brink of death and making me stronger.
Now, I will also briefly announce the 2nd and 1st place "Words from a boss that stay with you." Of course, with sarcasm.
2nd Place: "Work should just be done by whoever notices it needs doing."
This guy was so incompetent at his job that he was moved around the company like a pinball.
I called him Charismatic Section Chief with all due respect.

Once, when the Charismatic Section Chief returned from an overseas business trip, he called me into the conference room, and I thought it was about work, but he just showed me photos of tourist spots.
You just went sightseeing, didn't you!
This is what that charismatic section manager suddenly let slip.
“Work should just be done by whoever notices it needs doing.”
Doesn't that just mean “you'll never do any work”!
No. 1: “Hmm, half!”
Shifting responsibilityisa boss's habit.
I have seen every pattern of responsibility shifting there is.
Among them is the technique of“making things vague and avoiding decision-making.”a technique.
However, in a situation wherethe only answers are A or B,“Hmm, half!”there is only one idiot who would say that.
Of course, the one who scored this goal is the eternal worst-number-one boss, Hiroshi.

Its destructive power has become a full-length novel (lol).
May I be able to sublimate these bosses who are like the end of the world into laughter withmy love.
