とにかく、今日も明るく、元気に、前を向いて頑張っていこう。それがアメリカ人の伝統というものだ。

We Americans are traditionally a hopeful people. For most of us the sense of emptiness is not a permanent mood. Deep down in our hearts, in spite of frightening evidence to the contrary, we refuse to believe that our era represents the end of rational life. Most of us are following the psychologically healthy course, going on with our customary work, planning, as normal men must, for a better, happier future.
