On a detour☘️
Do you all have a destination?
I still don't have one clearly in mind.
But, at this age, I feel like I've finally started to see a place where I think, 'Maybe it's in this direction.'
Looking back, my life has been nothing but detours.
I lack the strength to head straight toward a destination; I stop whenever I find something that catches my eye and end up taking a side path.
But, where I stopped, there were small flowers blooming, or I had unexpected encounters with people.
Of course, there were times I fell into traps too😅
While I was on my detours, there were times I even forgot what I was aiming for😣
Even so, I think I've managed to walk forward little by little.
In this place, I hope to write about the people I met along those detours. The people I saw. And also about the people who took a 'detour' for me.
Don't you all have someone special you are still in touch with?
Someone you don't see anymore, but who remains in your heart?
Is there someone you suddenly remember, thinking, 'I am who I am today because of that time'?
Even if you can't quite reach your destination, when you look back later, those detours might have been the most precious times.
Perhaps that is sometimes the case.
By the way, the word 'michikusa' (detour/literally 'road grass') is said to have originated from the way horses would eat grass by the roadside during a journey, preventing them from moving forward💦
It is a word that describes not proceeding as planned, but
I believe the scenery and encounters found along the way are also precious treasures. And, I am still on a detour right now😊
P.S.🌱
In March 2026, triggered by a repeated remark from my mother, I began writing on note about my days starting from the eighth year with my mother-in-law, who has dementia.
Looking back, it hasn't always been things I started solely on my own initiative.
There are many things I have challenged myself with while struggling, after someone reached out to me and gave me a push.
I feel that the time I spent thinking, hesitating, and taking action each time
is what supports me now.
I think there will continue to be times when I make decisions while struggling.
I hope to gradually leave behind in this place the time I have spent with the people and creatures I have met along the way in life.
If, in your hearts as well,
there is someone you think of when you say,
“I am who I am today because of that person,”
I would be very happy if you could tell me about them😊
